The source of river Ganges--Gomukh (Dream before I leave) Gomukh, at an altitude of over 14,000 ft., is the visible snout of holy river Ganges. The Bhagirathi sisters ( peaks seen on the background ) hold the Gangotri glacier on its lap, which is the source of the lifeline of Indian norther plains and also shares a considerable part of Indian mythologies and religious mindset.
The glacier is fast shrinking due to suspected effects of global warming.  By Lopamudra!
