Munsiyari (Pithoragarh District, Uttarakhand) is a relatively unknown destination in the Kumaon hills. When we went there last December, we were the only tourists and found it difficult to find a place to stay, since most hotels are closed in the winters. Though we always prefer to stay in the KMVNs/GMVNs due to their excellent locations, we opted for the more warm and cosy Zara Resort in Munsiyari. Situated atop a hill, it gives fantastic views of the Panchachuli Peaks. This photograph was taken outside the resort.

Cricket - The sport which unifies India. Even places like Munsiyari (Utaranchal) where flat land is scarce, one can find a huge cricket field where cricket tournaments are held even during extreme winters.

the way to Munsiyari in Uttaranchal,  The sun was about to set. Ice had not melted, and sun trying to peep through the trees makes it awesome.

temple at a meadow just beneath the Panchchuli peaks in Munsiyari. We were lucky to visit the place during december when there were no other tourists around the place. The sunset as observed from this meadow was just out of this world.

the sun was setting down over the panchachuli range. The view was taken from the Nanda devi temple located in munsiyari. A small meadow with a single temple and no one around to pester during the winter season. The location of the place and the atmosphere was very unearthly like.
