Variety of flowering in Valley of Flowers. Earlier, there used to grow more than 500 spicies of wild flowers in the valley, which are said to be preserved in the Botonical Garden of London. Now, due to human influence and other envirionmental pressure, growth of wild grass, etc., around 200 species have disappeared. Presently, about 250-300 species of flowrers are still struggling for survival with the changed geographical conditions in the valley, and many of them are also on the verge of disppearance. In 1988, the Valley of Floowers & Nanda Devi National Parks were declared as World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO. (Dinesh Pundhir Photo)
