Mussoorie, a paradise in the lap of nature
MUSSOORIE IS commonly referred to as the Queen of the Hills. This pleasant hill station is located at a distance of 34kms from Dehradun, at an altitude of 2,003 mts above sea level in the Garhwal hills.
The hill station is one the most picturesque hill stations in India. It is frequently visited by both Indians as well as foreign nationals. It provides superb treatment to those who want relief from the hot sultry conditions of the plains. It is close enough to the capital city Delhi, to make just a weekend trip. Also, key Hindu pilgrimage places like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Haridwar, and Rishikesh are at close proximity to this beautiful place.
Situated in the hilly terrains of the Garhwal region, Mussoorie seems like a hub of beauty and serenity. In 1820, Captain Young of the British army was so awed by the beauty of this place that he made it his residence. The name, Mussoorie is got from plants of 'Mussoorie' which were found in great quantity here.
A large number of hotels are present all across the hill station. Hotels in this city are strategically positioned on the mall road. They offer easy access to the shopping and eating outlets. On the other hand, there are some hotels in Mussoorie that are located at a little distance from the mall road. They offer charming views of the wonderful mountains.
