Dodi Tal

Dodi Tal is an enchanting hill station perched at an elevation of 3024 meters above the sea level, situated in the Uttarkashi District of Uttaranchal. Surrounded by dense woods of oak, pine, deodar and rhododendrons, Dodi Tal presents a picture of a captivating paradise, alluring hundreds of tourists every year. It is situated 32 km from the district headquarters town of Uttarkashi.
Major attraction here is a crystal clear lake of about 2 km in circumference. 'Dodi' is the local name for trout which is found aplenty in the water body. It is said that the water has medicinal properties that freshens the skin.

Dodi Tal can be reached through a motorable road from Uttarkashi. During summer season, a round trek from Hanumanchatti to Uttarkashi via Dodi Tal is possible. Accommodation facilities are available in and around Dodi Tal.

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun (220 km). Rishikesh Railway Station at Rishikesh (180 km) is the closest railway station.

Masar Tal Lake


Masar Tal Lake is situated at a height of 14,500 ft in Tehri Garhwal District of Uttaranchal. The circumference of the lake is 4 km. The lake is near the Khatling Glacier. The three sides of the lake are bounded by snow and high peaks. When viewed from different angles, the lake water seems to change its color.

Kedar Tal

Kedar Tal is a beautiful lake, situated 18 km from Gangotri in Uttarkashi District of Uttaranchal. It is situated about 15,000 ft above sea level, against the visually stunning backdrop of the mighty Thalaiyasagar peak.
It is reachable through a rough mountain trail and is the base camp for the trekking expeditions to the surrounding peaks.

Neel Tal

Neel Tal, a picturesque lake, is located at the base of Tapovan in Uttarkashi District. The lake is also called Gandharva Tal. It is a beautiful blue water lake that offers an enchanting view of the snow-clad peaks all around. Nearby destinations include Sundar Glacier, Bhojbasa, Gangotri and Dharali. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport. The nearest railway station is at Rishikesh.

Roopkund Lake

Roopkund Lake, also known as Mystery Lake, is in the eastern part of Chamoli District of Uttaranchal. It is an oval shaped lake situated at an altitude of 5029 m and 16,000 ft above the sea level. The lake covers the regions of Garhwal and Kumaon and lies at the base of the Trishul Peak. The lake is named Mystery Lake because of the remains of the skeletons of people and animals that lie on the banks. During the summer months, when ice melts, the skeletons are clearly visible through the water. The lake remains frozen for rest of the year.

Nijmula

Nijmula is a beautiful village in Chamoli District, Uttaranchal. It is on the state highway between Gopeshwar and Durmi. Chamoli and Karnaprayag are the nearest major cities.
Gohna Tal Lake is easily accessible from here. Some of the nearby places are Matai, Roni, Nadaprayag and Bhimtalla. Gopeshwar Mahadeva Temple, a highly revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, is within a short distance from here.

Nijmula is well connected by road with Karnaprayag and Chamoli. Jolly Grant Airport serves this area. Rishikesh Railway Station is the nearest railway station.

Beni Tal

Beni Tal is a small village around 6 km from Adi Badri in Chamoli District. Major point of attraction here is the Beni Tal Lake. Narayan Temple, believed to have been built by Adi Shankara, is the nearby attraction. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There are many small temples easily accessible from here.
Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport and the nearest railhead is Rishikesh Railway Station.

Deoria Tal

An excellent spot for angling, boating and bird watching, Deoria Tal is a beautiful lake located at an altitude of 2,440 m. It is situated on the Chopta-Ukhimath route, 3 km from Sari. The reflection of the snow-capped Chaukhamba and Kedarnath peaks in the lake waters is a stunning sight. The lake can also be reached from Ukhimath.

Nachiketa Tal (uttarkash)

Located amid a lush green forest, Nachiketa Tal is a lake famous for its tranquil and clear water. The lake can be reached by a three kilometer trek from Chaurangi-Khal. It is believed that Nachiketa, the devout son of Sage Uddalok had created this lake. A small temple is situated on the banks of the lake.

Parvati Tal

Parvati Tal is a small lake near Chhota Kailash. The reflection of the peak in the lake is a stunning sight.
