Aadrniya Gaurji confusion to koi nahi rahta aagar kisi ne  is  thread ka pahla post dhyan se padha hota.  Usme saaf likha hai ki naatak  Shri  Rajeshwar Uniyaalji ke upanyaas per adharit. hai.
Pahla photo  aap dhyaan se dekhenge to  Harish Rawatji  ke saath Mai aur Uniyaalji dono moujood hain.   saanka ke liye dhanyabad, ise bahane aapse  baatchit ka mauka mila.

About  Baanji Gauri.  Theatre critic  Vibha Pande had written in  Patriot (Oct.21,1987)

Impressibe Garhwali Play on Corruption.

The High Hillers Group's Presentation "Banji Gauri" play in Garhwali  by Umakant Baluni, staged at the shri Ram Centre, was a biting satire on the much talked about theme of corruption.  Young Umakant baluni, in  his maiden attempt, has chosen a particular village and its surrounding  environs in the hily area.  The play is directed by Mitranand Kukreti.

The satire strongly exposes the practical shape given to the Rural Development programme.  The facilites do not reach the right persons.  There is a long trap, one continuously gets duped.

The acting by almost all the actors was of a good standard, Grisih Bisht (Lootharam) Dinesh Kothiyal (Bootharam) provided highly entertaining atmosphere, Kushal Singh Bist is a mature actor, in the role of Keshar Singh, he once more set his mark on the production.

Comic comment on IRDP
Tipicallity, witty dialogue and biting satire mark Umakant Baluni's Banji Gauri, which was presented by the  High Hillers Group at Shri Ram Centre.

Interesting the play is the maiden work by the young playwright.  The script reflects contemporary socio-economic patterns in Uttrakhand, focussing on the essence of social antagonism, it is a commic comment on the elements on that are eating  into the moral fabric of hill society.

The way integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) is being implemented in the hills becomes the object of the satirical ridicule of the play.  In the name of development, the bureaucracy and the local leaders are all in the game of pocketing the money which should have gone to the needy.   In the hope of getting financial assistance, the common man goes all through the bureaucratic mazes and in the end finds himself cheated by the official functionaries and local  politicians.
The production under the direction of Mitranand Kukreti was adequately rehearsed.  The chours was not imaginatively conceived to serve the dramatic purpose, though music by Umashankar Chandola was pleasing.  The Kathawachak format adopted by the director for the production appeared to be incongruous.  The long musical  interludes tended to interrupt the comic rhythm of the play.

Most of the performers proved themselves as good comic actors.  Dinesh Kothiyal and Girish Bisht as the persons who carry the corpse to the crematorium evoked peals of laughter.  Khushal S. Bisht as Kesar Singh, the small time farmer  whoc considers himself  clever, finally come to grief for seeking government assistance for procuring a cow, impressed the audience.  Kusum Bisht as the wife of  Kesa Singh could have impressed the audience if  she had delivered her line effectively.  Moreover, her exits and entries were marred by abruptness.  Sanyogita Pant as the daughter of Kesar Singh acted with verve.

Manan Kumar had written  about 'Chamatkar' written and Directed by Lalit Mohan Thapliyal ( Not alive now) in 1999

A Himalyan Miracle

The High Hiller's Group is an association of people from the Uttrakah(region of the UP hills,  comprising mainly Theri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal and Kumaon) settled in Delhi since 1982.]
The group presented a play called 'Chamatkar'  in the LTG auditorium recently.  Written and directed by Lalit Mohan Thapliyal , the small budget Garhwali play tries to seek the meaning and role of spirituality in life.
The play opens up with a typical teashop in a small town of Pauri Garhwal.  In the back-drop are the majestic and pious Himalayas.  This rather insignificant place boasts of one  Chimitewale Baba- famous for providinga cure to all problems through super-natural powers.
The  teashop suddenly becomes a centre of activity as people from  other parts of country come to seek the blessings of Baba who  suddenly vanishes.
While the gredy teashop owner, Harkhu Lala, uses this opportunity to make a fast buck, the desperate tourists assemble at the teashop of Chimtewale Baba.  The character of Nathu, the Lala's helper, played  rather well by Brijmohan Sharma, symbolises the typical character of a hill man.
Though, the spiritual Baba does not appear till the very end, the characters do come to understand the reality of life on different occasions.
