 जलम लेण द्यावा मैं तैं औण द्या ईं धरती मा
मेरा जलम सी दुःखी किलै तुम बोला मेरु कसूर छ क्या। 

पीढियां बटि मेरी पूजा होंदी मेरा बिना कुछ बि नी
सृष्ठि चलदी मेरा वजै सी मी छौं त संसार बि
पर आज दुन्या मा सबसे जादा होणू मेरु फ़तूर छह।

जन्म सी पैली खतरा मैं तैं , जन्म का बाद बि खतरा छ
खतरै मा कटद मेरु , उमर साठ चाहे सतरा छह
इनी चललू चक्कर त यो दुनिया को बुरु दस्तूर छ।

जनि डाळी पनपदी हवा देंदी औंदा जांदा पँथ्यों तैं
तनि मैं भी छौं मेरी आस करा भै ईं धरती मा औण कैं
मेरा जलम सी दुखी किलै तुम बोला मेरु कसूर छ क्या। 

देर सबेर बगत -बेबगत काम बिना मेरा चलण्या नी।
आदि शक्ति को रूप छौ मैं , मैं बिना पार लगण्या नी।
जाणो बूझीक आँखी मुझीक रखि सकल्यामैं दूर क्या।
कन्या छौं मैं , बैण बि छौं , मां की ममता छौं
जगत जननी छौं , पालनहार मैं , सावित्री छौं , सीता छौं
दुर्गा रूप धरी कै मैन कथगौं का दुःख दूर कर्या।

हाँ भै दगड्या बीरू!
अब प्रधान ह्वे ग्यई।

योजना ल्यांण लैं ग्यई
गरमाण खीसि लै ग्यई
प्रतिशत कि गणित मा
अब तू माहिर ह्वे ग्यई।

कूड़ि उजड़ण लै ग्यई
फटळि ब्यचण लै ग्यई
नै जमन कि सिकासैर
लैंटर धरण  लै ग्यई।

आणो , जाणो छोड़ि  ग्यई
स्यवा -सौंळि बिसरि  ग्यई
इतना ठुल्लो ह्वेगि अब कि
गौळा बि नि भ्यटणु छई।
 
नौनूं दिल्ली फट्यै यई
अंग़्रेजुम नौं लिखै यई
सुणेणु इनो कि वख बि
 चौमंजिला बणै यई

योजना झणि कतना ल्यई ? 
पैसा झणि कतना ल्यई ?
पण ठाकुरा ! सुशीलाs बांठौ
इन्द्रा आवास नि खै।

  Ker: Garhwali Poems/ Modern Songs Showing Contemporary Garhwal

(Review of Garhwali Poetry Collection -Ker of Darshan Singh Bisht)
 
 
             Separate state Uttarakhand movement gave us many poets as Darshan Singh Bisht .Darhsan Singh Bisht (Sukhraun, Pauri Garhwal, 1960) is called an important signature in contemporary Garhwali poetic world and his poetry collection ‘Ker’ tells the reasons for calling Darshan Bisht as shining star of Garhwali literature.
There are one hundred thirty one poems in Ker and each poem tells different situation in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Being in Garhwal, all his poems are the real experiences of Darshan Singh Bisht. Even when Darshan wishes a happy a new year greeting through his first poem of Ker , the readers feel a pinch of some unwanted happening there in rural Uttarakhand :
Nayai vars ki shubh kamna
Jayan byali, ayan bhol khun ….
Chhuma bau ki galyun khun …..
Pooch madkan wali byaryun khun
Today, common men perceive that politics is sinful deeds and the poet Bisht cautions the women of Garhwal not to be even Pardhani (head of Village Council)
Ja beti! Kalpana Chavla Bani, Bachhendri pal Bani,
Kiran Bedi Bani ..
………
Jogan bani jai par pardhani ni bani
The poet is capable of showing the psychology of the common men in his each poem . In his poem ‘Dosh Kaiku, the poet narrates the situation of passing the bucks on others very effectively.
Ker is is his long poem ,wherein , the poet shows us the differences of past and diminishing cultural and social values in the present societies. The poet also cautions the human society to be in limit (ker) to protect our earth.
Darshan Singh Bisht did not leave any important subject in his poems such as diminishing human values , corruption at lowest level in the state administration and in society too, the burning issue of increase in alcohol consumption in rural Garhwal, putrefying effect of castes in the society, discriminating aspects between male and female child, education system etc.
The poet is worried about new social, political and cultural changes happening because of speedy migration from Garhwal, Uttarakhand
Ju bayli tak chha syal
Wee khaunbagh bangeni
Ham towhee gewaan bideshi
Ikh dutyal panseni
The readers feel smidgen by knowing the new conditions of diminishing values in each part of our life.
The poet is of new gene and all his poems are prose like poems Gadyatmak Shaili) but all poems are having poetic touch or lyrical touch.
       The poems of Ker show that poet is full of vocabulary and knows how to use each word effectively. The poet uses pure Garhwali words and it is evident that Darshan Singh Bisht does not care for so called standard Garhwali and uses Salani dialects everywhere.
      When most of us are worried that Garhwali language may diminish within fifty seventy years, the poems of Darshan Singh Bisht assure us that Garhwal has rich culture and love for the language that new generation will definitely take care in protecting the language .
मिड डे  मील
 
भोजन माता  पैसों को चाय नास्ता
दाळ -भात सबि धाणि स्टाफ का वास्ता।
मैडम दाळ फरै कनीं
हेल्त बणाणा टरै कनीं
ढीस फर हेडसाब भात खरोळणान
सिगरैटी गुल बि तखिम ढोळणान।
बच्चों की टक कीचन फर
खड़ा कंदूड़ प्रेसर कुकरै सीटी फर
दिमाक फ्री सूण यार बंटी
किलै नि बजणि होलि घंटी।
हाफ टैम म फुल्ल खाणु
पढै हो कि नि हो खिचड़ि खाणौ जरुर औणु
अबतs सरकारन हत्ताबन्धि बि कर्यालि
नौनु घिराणै बि जरुरत नी , अफ्फी घिरालि
सुपर फैन  चौंळ सुपर मैनो खुणि
म्वाटा  अर सड्याँ  नौना नौन्युं खुणि
हमारा नौन्याळ भतखव्वा गिजैयली
मुसलिंड मिल्यां भात खलै
वूंका पुटग उठापटक करयली।

राजनीति कि तख्ति
'बम से भी खतरनाक होंदी

मी ब्व्न्नू छौं बुड्या जि कि
तुम साक्युं तक ज्यून्दा रयाँ
पर ह्यां
तुमारि आंखि बुजी जयां
अर तुम
खटुलिम बटि भयां नि अयाँ
मि थैं
छक्वै पिन्सन खलाणा रयां
पर भारे
मि जै ख्वाळा जौंलू
मीखुण कुछ नि ब्वल्यां

          As the historians appreciate the poets Lubomir Levchev, Kristin Dimtrova, Marin Bodakov, Likodimitrov, Mirela Ivanova , or Gueorgui Borissov for their contribution in Bulgarian poetic field, same way the critics as Tota Ram Dhoundiyal, Lokesh Navani appreciate the work of Darshan Singh Bisht for his contribution in Garhwali literature.
Overall the poems are of high standard and full of contemporary happenings.

न मिन कबि क्वी ढुंग्याई / न मिन क्वी लठ्याई
त  मीं देखी , क्वी किलै डरु!
न मेरु गिच्चू बड़ू , न मेरा हाथ लम्बा
न मि गुंडा , न बदमाश
त  मीं देखी , क्वी किलै डरु !

न मिन कैकि गौड़ी पिजाइ /न क्वनकू मांडी
न कैकु बोडु सराई
न दर्वळया अर न भंगुल्या
त  मीं देखी , क्वी किलै डरु !

न डरौण्या -मेरू पद/न शरीरम इथगा दम
अर न लोगूं थैं डरौण लैक रुप्या छन मैमु
  त  मीं देखी , क्वी किलै डरु !
जौं लोगूं मा लोगूं थैं डरौण लैक चीज छन
अर जौं देखी लोग डरदा छन /आज वूं थैं ही
मुंड अर कमर कराळू  करि लोग /नमस्कार भि करदन
जैकी क्वी डर ही नी /वै थैं पुछ्दू भी को ?
कैकु सुदी नी बोल्यूं
काल देखी बल कर्ता भी डरदु

दूर छै भट्यांदू कनक्वै, करदू क्या बस द्यखदी रौं।

चम चम चौंदिसों गैणा , घिरौँ छ उज्येळी  जून
ब्वलदी नि छ कुछ बिचsरी  , बिंगैगी सब कुछ आंख़्यून
रूप रंग ज्वनि का नशा मा , देखी वीs द्यखदी रौं

टक त जूनी पर लगीं छै , भुयां हेरदू कनुकरी
हरबी  हिटदू हळु - हळु मी , खुट्यूं धरदु डरी -डरी
अजाण मा खैनी ठोकर , अफु अफु बथ्यांदी रौं 
 दूर छै भट्यांदू  .......  .......  ...... ........ ..... ।

लुकौ गै उज्येळी जून , बीत गै जुन्याळी रात
खुदेन्दु यखुली -यखुली लगीं रै बडुळी पराज
ब्वलदी रौं मी ठैर -ठैर , रुकी नि वीs खुज्यांदी रौं   
 दूर छै भट्यांदू   .......  .......  ...... ........ ..... ।
