गाड-गदेरा
=========

गढ़वाली और कुमाऊंनी भाषा में छोटी, लेकिन बारहमासी नदियों को ‘गाड’ कहा जाता है। ‘गाड’ शब्द ‘गाद’ का स्थानीय रूप है। ‘गाद’ नदी में आने वाले मलबे को कहते हैं। अंग्रेजी में अत्यधिक कीचड़ के कारण मड और बारीक तलछट के कारण ‘सिल्ट’ कहते हैं। पर्वतीय क्षेत्र में बड़ी नदियों को छोड़कर तमाम छोटी नदियों को ‘गाड’ के नाम से जाना जाता है। यही गाड वर्षा ऋतु में पहाड़ों से आने वाले मलबे अथवा गाद को बड़ी नदी तक ले जाती हैं। कुछ बारहमासी ऐसी छोटी नदियां हैं, जो अधिक पानी की मात्र के कारण सदानीरा बनी रहती हैं।

Learning Alphabets through Folk Songs -1

Garhwali language is more than two thousand years old language and one of the oldest Indian languages. Secondly, Garhwal had been a sovereign nation till 1800 AD and no Islamic rular could rule this nation for a second (though many rulers tried ). It means Garhwalis innovated many means and methods by their own to teach the language to thie children. One of the innovative method was teaching through folk songs.

This song was developed by our folks to teach alphabets to children. Indeed ! Innovative method!!
