Badrinath Temple was built by - Adi Shankara


Badrinath was originally established as a pilgrimage site by Adi Shankara in the ninth century. Shankara discovered the image of Badrinarayan in the Alaknanda River and enshrined it in a cave near the Tapt Kund hot springs.[2][5] In the sixteenth century, the King of Garhwal moved the murti to the present temple.[2]

The temple has undergone several major renovations, due to age and damage by avalanche.[5] In the 17th century, the temple was expanded by the Kings of Garhwal. After significant damage in the great 1803 Himalayan earthquake, it was rebuilt by the King of Jaipur.[1][6] It is one of the five Punyakshethras (Holy places) where the Hindus offer Shraddhakarmas (oblations) to their 42 line of ancestors (Both from mother's and father's side) (Other four are Kashi (Varanasi), Gaya, Prayaga (Allahabad) and Rameswaram). It is believed that once the Shraddha Karma is performed here, the descendants need not perform the yearly ritual.

[/t][/t]       'राजा कटारमल ने सूर्य मंदिर का निर्माण एक रात में करवा लिया था.'  <ins><ins></ins></ins>[/t][/t] सूर्य मंदिर का नाम आते ही लोगों के जेहन में कोणार्क कौंध जाता है जबकि कोणार्क सूर्य मंदिर के अलावा उत्तराखंड के अल्मोड़ा जिले में भी एक सूर्य मंदिर है. यह सूर्य मंदिर उत्तराखंड के कटारमल गांव में है. इसलिए इसे कटारमल सूर्य मंदिर भी कहा जाता है. बारहवीं सदी में बना यह मंदिर उत्तराखंड के इतिहास का प्रमाण है और सूर्य के प्रति लोगों की आस्था का भी. यह मंदिर अपनी खूबसूरती के लिए भी उतना ही प्रसिद्ध है. इसकी बनावट और चित्रकारी बेहद खूब है. दीवारों पर भी खूबसूरत प्रतिमाएं दिख जाती हैं. श्रद्धा से मांगी हर इच्छा पूरी इस मंदिर में भगवान सूर्य की प्रतिमा एक मीटर लंबी और पौने मीटर चौड़ी है, जो भूरे रंग के पत्थर को काटकर बनाई प्रतीत होती है. यहां सूर्य भगवान पद्मासन की मुद्रा में बैठे हुए हैं. लोगों की आस्था है कि प्रेम और श्रद्धा से यहां मांगी हर इच्छा पूरी होती है.    इस मंदिर के दर्शन से ही भक्तजनों की बीमारियां और दुख दूर हो जाते हैं. इस मंदिर को बारादित्य भी कहा जाता है, जो कुमाऊं का सबसे ऊंचा मंदिर है. कहा जाता है कि मंदिर का निर्माण कत्यूरी वंश के राजा कटारमल ने करवाया था, इसी वजह से इसे कटारमल सूर्य मंदिर कहा जाता है. राजा कटारमल ने बनवाया था मंदिर लोगों का मानना है कि राजा कटारमल ने इस मंदिर का निर्माण एक रात में करवा लिया था. कोणार्क सूर्य मंदिर की तरह ही यह भी कॉम्प्लेक्स के समान ही है यानी यहां 45 छोटे-छोटे मंदिरों की श्रंखला है. मुख्य मंदिर में सूर्य की प्रतिमा के अलावा विष्णु, शिव और गणोश की मूर्तियां भी हैं.    अन्य देवी-देवता भी यहां विराजमान हैं. लोगों का यह भी मानना है कि सभी देवी-देवता यहां मिलकर भगवान सूर्य की पूजा करते हैं. यहां सूर्य की प्रतिमा कई मायने में अलग है, भगवान सूर्य यहां बूट पहने दिखते हैं. मंदिर की इस प्रमुख बूटधारी मूर्ति की पूजा विशेष तौर पर शक जाति करती हैं. कहा तो जाता है कि यह मंदिर बारहवीं सदी में बना है, फिर भी इसकी स्थापना को लेकर लोगों में एक मत नहीं है.

Raghunath Temple Almora - Built by Raja Mohan Singh Chand

Raghunath Temple is located at Almora. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The shrine was built in 1788 by Raja Mohan Singh Chand. Nearby attractions are Siddha Narsimha Temple, Nanda Devi Temple, Bright End Corner and Tripura Sundari Devi Temple. Pant Nagar Airport is the nearest airbase. The nearest railway stations are at Kathgodam and Ramnagar.

Gangotri Temple -Amar Singh Thapa

Gangotri Temple is situated at a height of 3200 m in the beautiful surroundings of deodars and pines. The temple is devoted to Goddess Ganga. It is situated near a sacred stone, the ' Bhagirath Shila,' where King Bhagirath worshipped Lord Shiva.

The temple is made of white granite. It was built by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th century. Ganga is said to have touched earth at this spot. Legend says that Pandavas performed the great Deva Yagna here to make amends for the deaths of their kinsmen in the epic battle of Mahabharata.

Shankar Math, Sri Nagar Garhwal built by Aadi Shankra Charya


Shankar Math is situated about 3 km from the main town of Srinagar, in Pauri Garhwal District of Uttaranchal. The math is believed to have been constructed by Adi Shankaracharya and is noted for its unique architectural beauty. The sanctum of the temple features stone images of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. It is associated with 17th century on the basis of its stylistic features.
