Bhojbasa
A Halting Point for Trekkers to Gaumukh


Set in the heart of Shivling Peak, Bhojbasa is situated on the way to Gaumukh. Around 5 km from Chirbasa, Bhojbasa is a cold grey hamlet which is an alternative destination to Gomukh for trekkers to stay. Noteworthy in the spot is the glistening glacier on the mountain peak which varies in colour, from shades of blue and green, to white. The ideal season is from April to October.
The nearest railhead is at Rishikesh (265 km). Gangotri is the last bus terminus from where there is a 14 km trek to Bhojbasa

Bhatwari

Situated at an altitude of 1,210 m, Bhatwari boasts many interesting, and twisting entwined paths. In times of yore, the pilgrims and trekking enthusiasts going from Gangotri to Kedarnath used the trekking paths of Bhatwari. Nearby attractions are Dayara Bugyal (16 km), Gangnani (12 km), and Harsil (43 km).
Bhatwari is 27 km from Uttarkashi, 177 km from Rishikesh and 72 km from Gangotri. Private hotels are available for accommodation.

Barsu

Barsu Village is located around 10 km from Bhatwari in Uttarkashi District. It commands a fascinating view of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. This region nestles among pine forests, high altitude meadows and deep valleys. Nearby places to visit are Dayara Bugyal (8 km), Raithal and Dodi Tal. Barsu is an ideal base for trekking and mountaineering. Base camps are available here.
Agriculture and livestock rearing are the main occupation of the villagers. The village houses are built of mud, stone and wood. Stone slates are used for roof. The upper part of the house is used by the family, while the lower part is for animals and their fodder.

Balcha

Balcha is in Uttarkashi District of Uttaranchal. It lies at an altitude of around 3200 m above sea level and is noted for its scenic beauty. This hilly village is surrounded by villages such as Kulni, Asna, Mori, Nanai, Gainchvan and Naitwar. The nearest major towns are Rajgarhi and Purola.
Local bus services and taxies connect Balcha with Purola. Jolly Grant Airport serves this area. Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest railway station.

Gainchvan

Gainchvan is a beautiful hamlet in Uttarkashi District of Uttaranchal. It is situated near the trekking route connecting Naitwar and Osla. The nearest major cities are Purola and Rajgarhi. The Rupin River flows close to this village.
Doni, Salra, Nanai, Jakhol and Taluka are the nearest cities and villages. The nearby place Naitwar is famous for a temple dedicated to Karna.

Gainchvan can be accessed by local buses and taxies from Purola. Dehradun Railway Station serves this area. Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport.
