Chaur

Chaur, a small village, is in Chamoli District of Uttaranchal. It lies near the trekking route connecting Gwaldam and Manmatti. Some of the nearby villages are Harmal, Bagrigad, Tharali and Debal.
The Pindar flows very close to this village. Tourists on the lookout for adventure will find this area most appealing.

Chaur is easily accessible by local buses and taxies from Karnaprayag. The nearest airport is at Dehradun. Rishikesh Railway Station is the nearest railway station.

Manmatti


Manmatti is a hilly village in Chamoli District of Uttaranchal. It lies on the trekking route connecting Gwaldam and Harmal. Karnaprayag and Chamoli are the nearest major towns. The River Pindar flows very close to this village.
The village, with its numerous trekking and hiking trails, is a favorite haunt for adventure enthusiasts. Chaur, Bagrigad and Ghes are the nearby villages.

Rishikesh Railway Station and Jolly Grant Airport are the nearest access points.

Mahila Haat


Mahila Haat is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which aims at the development of rural women. The women and girls of the rural areas of Kumaon are given training in various skills such as carpet weaving, knitting, and marketing. The locally grown and spun raw materials are supplied by the wool bank of the organisation. In the Mall of Almora, there is a shop which offers beautifully hand knitted woollens, local honey, and various handicraft products at reasonable rate.

Daranti


Daranti is a picturesque village situated seven km from Munsiyari, in Pithoragarh District. It lies along the Milam Glacier trek route in the Johar Valley. Gori River flows through it. Daranti nestles among forests of juniper, oak and birch. The place offers enchanting views of the Himalayas all around. Nearby places to visit are Darkot, Maheshwari Kund, Balati Farm, Namik Glacier, Jimi Ghat Waterfalls and Sailapani. It is an ideal base for trekking and mountaineering.
Bhutiyas, people of an Indo-Tibetan tribe, live here. The village shows the culturally rich lifestyle of its inhabitants who steeps in Hinduism. The villagers decorate their houses by drawing aplana (folk ritual painting) designs in rice paste on the floor. Figures of Jyoti Patta (life giving female spirit) and Ganesh are painted on the walls. They are also rich in handicrafts.

The nearest airport is Pant Nagar Airport and the nearest railway station is at Kathgodam.

Duram

 


Duram is a picturesque hamlet in Almora District, Uttaranchal. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the city and is noted for its scenic beauty and calm atmosphere. Almora is the nearest major town.

Senargad
