Very nice debate has started.  At this time , it is free for all.  Every body wants to be an instant hit and attract  public attention.   The singers don't mind   playing at the hands of music arranagers.  They are ready to pay him any amount but  not to a good song writer so most of the singers are writer themselves. Result a poor copy of  old hit  garhwali kumaoni  or hindi songs.  Music comapnies are exploiting this situation.  I have come across a few artists who themselves bore all the expenses to prepare a  audio /Vedio CD but when they went to the market no body was prepared to buy the material and they had to sell the CDs free to the company. Moreover,  trade pundits  keep them in illussion  that  next CD will be hit.  In the vicious circle one realizes only after investing  in three four CDs and losing  almost one lakh  rupees  that he   has been cheated and he silently  leaves the arena, but  there is no  shortages of  newcomers so the game goes on.....

Dear Dinesh ji we were also discussing this situation of Uttarakhandi Music in our forum few days back. This is all about singers being exploited by owners of Music companies and pahari music arrangers.

Joshi ji Namskar,
Nice to see you after a long time.
We must admit that it is not logical to prepare Uttarakhandi folk song by just sitting at Delhi or Mumabi. You are having a good knowledge of folk music, but new singers and composers must visit pahar regularly, explore dying music traditions like Nyauli, bhagnaul, jagar etc., learn to play traditional music instrumets like dhol-damau, hudka, bagpiper and  spend sometime with unknown but real folk singers living in interior parts of Pahar.

आज-कल में एक गाना देखा जो रीमिक्स था- " ना बासा घुघुती चैत की"
इस बोल पर रीमिक्स डी०जे० चल रहा था और वीडियो में अधनंगे कलाकार मस्त होकर नाच रहे थे और बैकग्राउंड में कभी-कभी एक नामचीन कलाकार का फोटो भी दिखाया जा रहा था। बड़ी कोफ्त हुई, कम से कम गाना रीमिक्स करने से पहले गीत के बोलों पर तो ये कलाकार ध्यान दे दें...............
इस गीत के बोल हैं, ना बासा घुघुती चैत की, या आ जांछी मैस मैत की................एक लड़की जो शादी के बाद अपने मायके से दूर ससुराल में है और अभी तक उसकी भिटौली नहीं आयी है, वह लड़की इस गीत में आगे मंगल कामना भी करती है कि मेरे मायके में सबकुछ ठीक हो, कोई दुःख-बीमार ना हो, कोई अपशकुन ना हुआ हो......और मेरी भिटौली आ जाय।
     इतने ज्यादा विरह और एक लड़की की घुघुती से मार्मिक अपील पर ये लोग कैसे नाच लेते हैं, समझ से परे है।   मेरा विनम्र अनुरोध है कि कम से कम हमारे मार्मिक गीतों, जिन्हें सुनने भर से हमारी माताओं/बहनों की आंखें नम हो जाती हैं, उन गीतों का ऎसा भौंडा और भद्दा मजाक ना बनायें ये लोग।

Ye bat bahut jyada saramnak hai ki, ye na sirf naye ganu mai foohadta dal rahe hai, ye purane gane jo logu ke dilu mai base hue hai, unka bhi remix bana ke unko sunane /dekhne like nahi chod rahe. Suitation wahi hai jiase hindi music industry mai Purane or madhur ganu ko remix ke nam pe Foohad banaya ja raha hai, waisa hi khilwad hamare uttarakhandi sangeet ke sath bhi kiya ja raha hai. Daju logu ye topic sirf forum mai discussion karke apni responsibility khatam samjh lene like nahi hai.. ise common logu tak pahuchana hoga or jarurat pade to iske virod mai sadku pe utarna hoga ... Aakhir bat apne culture, saskar, sabhyta ko bachane ki hai. Mehta ji / Pankaj da jitne bhi log is dhande se jhude hue hai..uttarakhand ke yuva peedi ki taraf se, please unke samne is bat ko rakho... or unhe chetao ki is type ka khilwad saha nahi jayega...

I am regular listener of Garhwali and Kumaoni songs. My present concern is the use of small kids in the songs which do not fit to their age. There has been some video cds in the market which show small children singing, dancing and chasing girls like street Romeos.  Their lyrics are equally useless. Giving here examples of such stupidity.

रावत जी,   कुमाउनी/गढ़वाली संगीत के नाम पर इन्होने ये अच्छा काम नहीं किया. शर्म आ रही है देखने में.  कुछ अच्छा नहीं आता इनके दिमाग में?

This is the reason that people are losing interest on UK's folk music. HOwever, a few are making good music albums.
