We are sharing here information about famous Sidhi Peeth Dhari Devi which is situated 15 ahead from main Sri Nagar City Pauri Garhwal.

How to reach Dhari Devi?

The temple is 15 kms. from Srinagar, 124 kms. from Rishikesh, 19 kms. Short of Rudraprayag, 44 kms. from Pauri & 165 kms. from Dehradun.


Mythology

It is said that there is a legend that once in a flood the temple washed of and the idol of Godess Kali struck against the rock,the villager of dharo village heard a divine voice when they reached there they fixed the idol of kali at this spot.Since then this temple is Known as Dhari devi. The upper part of Goddess Kali is believed here and the remaining part is worship in Kalimath. As opinion of villagers the face of the idol changes as a girl,a women and an old lady as the progress of time.This idol is in open sky.

धारी देवी

श्री बदरीनाथ मुख्य मार्ग पर श्री नगर से १५ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर कलियासौड़ नामक स्थान है! यहाँ से एक किलोमीटर की पैदल उतराई पर अलकनंदा के तट से कुछ उचाई पर धारी देवी का प्रसिद्ध सिद्दीपीठ है! इस स्थान के पूर्व के पुर्व के इतिहास पर नजर डाले तो ज्ञात होता है जी जनपद चमोली के गौना ताल, विरही गंगा और पातळ गंगा में क्रमश १८०३, १८९४, १९७० में बज्र पात व् पानी जमा होने से अलक नंदा में आयी भयंकर बाड़ में यह मंदिर भी विशेष प्रभवित हुवा!  असंख्य घंटियों की आच्छादित इस मंदिर के विषय के लोक मान्यताओं के अनुसार गर्भगृह में पूजित मुख्य काली प्रतिमा अनेको वर्ष पहले कालीमठ से रुद्रप्रयाग तक मन्दाकिनी की धारा में, मन्दाकिनी व् अलकनंदा के संगम स्थल रुदप्रयाग से आगे बड़ते ही कलियासौड़ के नीचे धारी गाव के निकट प्राप्त हुयी थी जिस इस मंदिर में यज्ञ विधि विधान से प्रतिष्ठित किया गया !

मान्यता है की काली माँ का उपरी भाग यहाँ अवस्थित है और निचला भाग कालीमठ में पूजित है! इस अन्य मान्यता अनुसार जब यह मूर्ती बह गयी थी तो कुंजू नामक एक धुनार को रात्री स्वप्न में देवी ने अपने को नदी से बाहर निकालने का आदेश दिया!  कुंजू ने स्वप्न के आधार पर देवी को उस स्थान से बाहर निकाला जिसे बाड़ में विधि विधान पूर्वक मंदिर में स्थापित किया गया! धारी देवी नाम पड़ने के पीछे मुख्यतः स्थान विशेष का नाम और एक पवित्र जलधारा का यहाँ होना माना जाता है! मैन्दिर के स्थान पर काली माँ विराजमान है जिनका स्वरुप यहाँ दक्षिण काली है!

महाभागवत के अनुसार महाकाली ही मुख्य है उनखी के उग्र और सौम्य दो रूप में अनेक रूप धारण करने वाली दस महाविधाये है! भगवन शिव की शक्तिया ये महाविधाये अनंत सिधीयाँ प्रदान करने में समर्थ है! (साभार- केदारखंड किताब.. - लेखिका हेमा उनियाल)

मुख्य देवी प्रतिमा लगभग १ १/२ फीट उंच काले पाषण में दर्शनीय है! देवी का वक्षस्थल तक का ही भाग यहाँ प्रतिष्ठित है! गंभीर मुद्रा में अंकित यह प्रतिमा विस्त्रृत नेत्रों वाली, मस्तक पर रजत मुकुट से सुशोभित है! मुख्य प्रतिमा के निकट काले पाषण में भैरव देव व् अन्य गणों की प्रतिमा दर्शनीय है! मान्यता है की मुख्य प्रतिमा सूर्य के दुय होने के साथ ही दोपहर व् सूर्य डलने तक मुखाक्रति में परिवर्तन दर्शाती है अर्थात प्रतिमा स्वरुप में प्रातः कुवारी, मध्यान्ह में युवा तथा संध्या में प्रौड़तव झलकाता है!

सिद्दी स्थल होने तथा मुख्य मार्ग से थोड़ी दूरी पर होने के कारण इस मंदिर में नव विवाहितो व् दर्शनार्थियों की संख्या काफी रहती है!

Dhari Devi Temple - Uttarakhand According to a local legened, the temple was once washed off by floods, while floating the idol struck against a rock, the villagers heard the cries of the idol. On reaching the site they heard a divine voice instructing them to install the idol as it was, on the spot it was found. Since then the fierce looking idol remains where it was, known as Dhari Devi, under the open sky, and thousands of devotees on the way to Badrinath pay their obeisance to it. The temple of Dhari Devi in Srinagar hosts only the upper part of idol of Godess Dhari, the remaining lower part is believed to be in Kalimath in Rudraprayag district.
It is believed that the idol of Dhari Devi shall not be put under roof. For the same reason, the idols in Dhari Devi Temple are put under open sky. Taking photographs of Dhari Devi idols is strictly prohibited.
