      Two Temples at बैजनाथ (Baijnath) These ancient Hindu temples at Baijnath (बैजनाथ) in Bageshwar (बागेश्वर) District in the Kumaon (कुमाऊं) region of Uttarakhand were photographed in July 2003.  Baijnath is north of Almora and south of Badrinath.  Baijnath, then called Karttikeyapur (कार्त्तिकेयपुर), was the capital of the Katyuri (कत्यूरी) kings who ruled from the 7th to the 11th centuries CE.

      The Temple of TUNGANATH Tunganath is an important temple of Lord Shiva (the 3rd of the five important Shiva temples in Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India known collectively as The PANCH-KEDARS). It is situated at an altitude of 3886 metres & is the HIGHEST of all temples in India. Tunganath can be reached from CHOPTA, a small hamlet well connected by road to important places like CHAMOLI & UKHIMATH. From Chopta, it is about 3.5 km, but the road is very steep, about 3500 feet in 3.5 km.
The scenic beauty of this area is just fantastic, with a large number of Himalayan peaks visible in clear weather.

      Yamunotri Temple with a White Shikhar Although the date when this picture of Yamunotri Temple in Uttarkashi District, Uttarakhand was taken is unknown, it was certainly taken before 2011 when the shikhar was yellow with red trim and after the mid 1980s when the present building was built to replace an earlier structure destroyed in an avalanche.
