अल्मोडा शहर के प्रसिद्ध जगह :

     अल्मोडा वैसे तो सांस्कृतिक जगह के लिए भी मशहूर है ! परन्तु यहाँ की बाल मिठाई काफ़ी प्रसिद्ध है !

    कोसी -  कोशी अल्मोडा से २५ किमी की दूरी पर है लेकिन यह जगह पहले रैयता के लिए बहुत मशहूर था ! a

वाह मेहता जी मुंह में पानी आ गया यह टापिक देखकर..

दन्या- अल्मोङा-पिथोरागङ मार्ग पर स्थित यह कस्बा यात्रियों के लन्च के लिये उपयुक्त है और "दन्या के पराठे" बहुत पुराने समय से प्रसिद्ध हैं.

वैसे चम्पावत की बाल-मिठाई भी काफी मशहूर है...

अल्मोङा की एक विशिष्ट मिठाई और है... पत-मिठाई, यह शुद्ध खोये से बनती है और मालू के पत्ते में लपेट कर बेची जाती है...इसे "सिगौङी" के नाम से जाना जाता है..

जगह विशेष की मिठाइयों का जिक्र छिङा है तो "डीडीहाट का खेंचुआ" के बिना यह अधूरा रह जायेगा...

खेंचुआ बहुत ही स्वादिष्ट मिठाई है. यह भी शुद्ध खोये को देरतक घोट कर बनायी जाती है जिसमें नियंत्रित मात्रा में चीनी होती है. मेरी जानकारी के अनुसार डीडीहाट के अलावा शायद कहीं और यह मिठाई नहीं बनती.

Ashram of Karnav Risihi is situated at the bank of Malin river and is about 13 km from the main town, and finds description in ancient literatures. Shakuntala, daughter of Karnva Rishi, had lost her ring, gifted by King Dushyant at this place. She later gave birth to Bharat who became a famous king (India was named Bharat after him). Other famous temples are Sidhbali Mandir & Durga Devi . These temples are famous for their natural beauty and the holy spirits which they spread among the people. People from all over India come to pay visit to these temple; especially Sidhbali Mandir.

In 1901 with a population of 1029, Kotdawar was an important business mart of the district, of commerical goods as well as farm produce

Famous Baikunth Chaturdashi Mela in Srinagar Garwal

Baikunth Chaturdashi Mela is the main festival celebrated in Srinagar in the month of October or November where artists from across the country perform in various cultural shows. Hundreds of couples incapable of having children, pray throughout the night in the Kamaleshwar temple with a belief that their prayers on the auspicious day of Baikunth Chaturdashi would be answered by God. The whole town is illuminated with lights and decoration and many sports events are organized during the four day festival.
