                Garhwali story   ‘Mai Ghaur Chhodiawa’ By Vinod Sirola is about love for homeland by a migrated woman.  After marriage, she was with her in laws and happily living in village. One day, she disobeyed the wishes of in laws and the conflict started in family. She has to come to Delhi with her husband who is working in a hotel in Delhi. For, five years, she did not remember village. However, when she sees ‘Gahath’ , she started feeling to fly to her village (in law village). Her husband Prem Datt refuses to send her village. Story end makes happy and proud the Garhwali readers.
      The story is compelling for reading full story. Mostly, the conflicts in the story are realistic (commonly found). 
             Vinod uses figure of speeches (upma Alankar) abundantly specially for depicting geographical nature.
'जून' धार का पिछ्नै हैंसण लगी गे छै किलैकी वीं पता छौ कि लडै भोळ फिर होण . जून अब जादा तेज हैंसण लगि गे छै
 Many Hindi words used in this story do not suit in Garhwali language story.

      Himalaya is the origin birth place of cucumber. From Himalaya, cucumber agriculture spread all over Indian and then spread to Mid Asia and other countries. China started culturing cucumber 3 B.C.
               Cucumber theft by young boys in rural Garhwal is common culture. Cucumber theft is not called a social crime as happens in other vegetable thefts but an adventurous kind of theft. The boy who is bred and brought in rural Garhwal would definitely be involved in cucumber theft in his life.
           Every rural Garhwali would have two or more true stories with him about cucumber theft. Urmil Kala depicts the cucumber theft culture of rural hills of Uttarakhand. The story is told in very simple words but create curiosity. At the end, story writer provides poem about cucumber theft culture as:
 खाई ककड़ी , खाई ककड़ी लगदी मूत
रामू क ब्वे , गाळी देली त ,
वीं तै पीटी पीटी क
बणा द्योला भूत

                 Vijay Madhur is famous Garhwali poet and writes Garhwali fiction too. Dhanu is one of the marvelous Garhwali short stories.  The story is about the entry of urban culture in villages disintegrating the culture of sacrifice, fearlessness cooperation, helping others in need of rural Garhwal.  Gunu  a woman whose husband is in Delhi is now a day, is afraid of thieves in village (while once upon a time nobody knew locks). She does not open door in night as the new types of thieves killing women for jewelries, gems and for money. One night Dhanu knocks her door in mid night. She is afraid and does not open door. The story ends with the real secret of Dhanu coming to Guni.
    The story writer Vijay is master of storytelling in terms of opening the story, creating interesting plot, fine developed and right structure. There are actions and tension in story.  The characterization is perfect and seems as if readers know those characters very well.  Madhur created suspense in the story and the story ending is definitely shocking. The dialogues are strengthening the characters.  Vijay uses common Garhwali phrases for creating realistic atmosphere as 
अब द्वि द्वि काल मी कु तै अलग से छन . Here, kal means daughters.
          Vijay has been successful in creating present atmosphere of confusion and doubts on other fellows in rural Garhwal due to entry of urban culture.

     Piddi aur Chakori’ is a mini Garhwali story by historian Dr. Khyat Singh Chauhan . The story deals with centuries old social problem that minority rules over majority. Dr.Khyat Singh Chauhan is successful in compelling readers about social model that created minority’s rule over majority.
  The story is effective and tells about social divide in least words. The story characters are two birds those talk about human behavior.

     Chandu is a religious and cooperative person in the village. Everybody respects his strong character.  However, in moment, he made body relationship with his nephew’s wife Bela. Her husband is madman and is perhaps weak male.  Bela becomes pregnant and she states that she is more responsible for making bodily relationship than Chandu . Now the village council meeting is scheduled for the judgment.  Chandu has two well grown sons and a married daughter. Before village council meet, Chandu escapes from village and choose for exile himself. After thirteen years his friend Bachu finds him in Kanpur and wants to take him to village. Chandu does not return as he wants self punishment for  exile.
  The story is interesting and Dr.Asha took examples from Ramayana for explaining modern story. The story writer is successful for depicting conflicts and self consciousness.  There are conflicts of consciousness of younger generation about knowing their father’s sin. Story dialogues are common Garhwali phrase. The initial opening compels readers to finish the story. There is good discussion on sin and virtues
