Ghazal is not original genre of Garhwali poetry as also found in other Indian regional languages. Ghazal came in Garhwali poetry in seventies. Netra Singh Aswal is supposed to be one of the outstanding Ghazal makers of initial stage. The veteran critics and drama maker Rajendra Dhashmana named Garhwali Ghazal as Ganjeli Kavita. Ganjeli means pestle. As the last part of pestle grinds the cereal same way the last Nukta makes Ghazal meaningful.
After Netra Singh Aswal, many Garhwali poets tried in Ghazal creation in Garhwali but Madhusudan Thapliyal, Madan Duklan, Uma Bhatt and Virendra Panwar could impress the critics.
Madhusudan Thapliyal is first Garhwali Ghazal maker who published Ghazal collection ‘Harbi-Harbi’.
Karch –Kabarch by Jagmohan Singh Bisht is second Ghazal collection in Garhwali language.
The present Ghazal collection has more than 600 Ghazals divided into 56 subject Parts. Each part has around 10 Ghazals or more.
The subjects of each Ghazal part are varied in nature and color. The subjects are philosophical, love, romances, political, social reforms, social changes, social stagnancy, environment, culture geographical beauty of Garhwal, Uttarakhand movement , selfish interests at various levels, present situation of Uttarakhand and other topics and issues.
Bisht has been successful in raising various issues. The Ghazals by Jagmohan Singh Bisht are serious in nature and provoke the readers to think and act.
Usually, Ghazal makers in other languages (than Urdu) push Urdu forcibly and make those Ghazals difficult to understand or those Urdu words do not match the soul of the language.Jagmohan Bisht uses simple routine Garhwali phrases and make those Ghazal interesting and easily under stable by common men too.
The present Ghazal collection by Jagmohan Bisht is evidence that day by day Garhwali Ghazal is evolving towards its fineness. The phrases and subjects are from realistic world and make this collection the well blend of philosophy and realism.

बैठ दादा क्वी नि निकाळी सकुद भैर ,
गिगड़ा गागर मा भर्यां छिन दिखद जा।
घुंणडु कीलु लगौन्दन प्रीती की ,
कपाळ का टांका बुना छिन सुणद जा।
अाग गंगा मा लगीं रै सरा साल ,
माछा सब डांडा भग्याँ छिन दिखद जा।
हथगुळयुं मां धैर यूं ज्यूंदाळु तैं,
द्यब्ता सब दैण हुयां छिन दिखद जा।
जीतू की बंसुळी बणी च विधान सभा
भाग अंछर्युं का खुल्यां छिन दिखद जा।
भैजि कनकै स्यार साला पांच साल
भरणा झांझर बज्यां छिन सुणदा जा।
हिंवळी कांठ्यूं मा लगीं च यख बणाक,
देबी -दिब्ता दिल्ली मा छिन दिखदा जा।
हौळ तांगऴ नी च , घास का ढेर छिन ,
गैळु का कन दिन अयां छिन दिखद जा।
बिष्ट डिग्री फेल छिन कॉलेज की ,
ढाई आखर कुर्सी का छिन रटद जा।

१३ -खैर मंगद सब्युंकि खैर
जिंदगी च दिन की चार
१४-बुरांश की लगयीं बडांक
भ्याळ भ्याळ धार धार
१५ - हम बि बचला , तुम बि बचिल्या , सब्बि बचला
जु आम ख़ास कि नजर से जंगळात बचला
