The Valley was introduced to the world as the Valley of Flowers by Frank S Smythe - mountaineer, explorer, botanist who camped here for several weeks in the monsoon of 1937 and did valuable exploratory work. He authored a book called "The Valley of Flowers" which unveiled the beauty and floral splendours of the valley and thus threw open the doors of this verdant jewel to nature-enthusiasts all over the world.

Uttarakhand me KHIRSU kahna hai.........

KHIRSU   is situated 19 kms away from Pauri at an altitude of 1700 metres, it is really a peaceful spot, free from pollution. Tranquility of the adjoining thick Oak and Deodar forests and apple orchards, is only broken by chirping birds. Khirsu provides a much closer view of the entire range of snow peaks seen from Pauri.

17th Century me, jis samay Garhwal me Maharaj Fatehshah (1655-1715) ka shasan tha, Us samay Garhwal par Katyuron ka Aakraman hua tha. I was always confused that who were Katyuries? B'coz most of the people told me that they were from Kumaon. But once I read a book of famous garhwali writer 'VIMAL', who get the Sahitya Ratna award, He had written that Katyuri were not from Kumaon.
So that I am confused that who were katyuries? If any one know than please give me the correct Information about this.

1931 में फ्रेंक स्मिथ और आर०एल० हिल्डसवर्थ हिमालय घूमने आये और उन्हें इस खूबसूरत घाटी के दर्शन हुये, जिसका वर्णन फ्रेंक स्मिथ ने 1932 में प्रकाशित अपनी पुस्तक "The valley of flowers" में किया।
       1982 में इसे राष्ट्रीय पार्क घोषित किया गया और २००० में इसके दूसरे भाग को नन्दादेवी बायोस्पियर घोषित किया गया।
