बूते जांदन नौंना
घर जामि जंदिन ब्यटुला
लाड -प्यार नौंना तैं
पर कळकी जंदिन  ब्यटुला 
एवरेस्ट जन तड़तड़ा पोड़ि पर
धकियायी जंदिन नौंना
पर चढ़ी जंदिन   ब्यटुला
सुख का सुपिन्या दिखोंदा नौंना
पर जिंदगी की सचै  ब्यटुला

- अरे क्या ह्वे गे  , चल्दू च
- ह्यां न  ह्वां , न ह्वां , बिल्कुल ना।
- ऊँ , क्या ह्वे गे
-पर ब्याळक याद च ?
-हाँ पर जल्दी निपटै द्योलु ना
- निपटाणै बात नी च। 
- घौरम कै तै पता नि चौलल
-ह्यां पता चलणो बात नी च
- क्या ह्वे गे।  थुड़ा सि त
-पर ब्याळि तीन कसम ले छौ
-कसम !  मि  त बौसक समिण रोज  कसम खांदु कि टैम पर काम निपटै द्योलु।
-या कसम अर बौसाक समिण खईं कसम मा अंतर च। 
- फल तुड़णा  कुण लगदन , रिकॉर्ड टुटणा   कुण बणदन अर कसम तुड़णा कुण खये जांदन।
-हां पर ब्याळि त वींक समिण कसम खाई। अपण घरवळि समिण खईं कसम ?
-चल्दू च।
-पर अफिक अफु से बि त कसम खै छौ।
- आज फिर सच्चिक कसम खै द्योलु।
-अरे ठीक नी च।  रुक जा
-पर  ..
-रुक जा हाँ , घौरम बड़ो हंगामा ह्वे जाल हाँ।
-नै रै मि तै विश्वास च आज नि ह्वालु।
- बच्चा बड़ ह्वे गेन।  उंक त खयाल।
- बस आज इ थुड़ा सि  अर आज का बाद माँ कसम फिर कबि ना।
- ब्वेक कसम खांद अर  ..
- सच्ची आज का बाद ना।
- ह्यां पर
- अरे स्यु सद्गुरु बार ऐंड रेस्टोरेंट ऐ गे।  पता नी आठ बजदन अर म्यार खुट अफिक बारक तरफ आण मिसे जांदन जन  गोरुक खुट अपण छन्नी तरफ  अफिक चलदन।
- नि जा , नि जा , तीन दारु  पेकि ड्यार जाण अर घौरम हो हल्ला ह्वे जाण।
- तो ठीक च।  मि बारा बजी बाद इ घौर जौल।  एक क्वाटर की जगा आज द्वी क्वाटर ह्वे जाल और क्या  पर घौरम शांति तो रैली तब।

                                       Sugauli Treaty
                           
               Nepal Rule over Kumaun, Garhwal and Himachal (1790-1815) -300

               British captured Dehradun, Garhwal Kumaon and Himachal. British officials started administrating those regions. However, there was no written statement from Nepal court for those regions as British region. Nepal court could not win the above regions but in future, Nepal could claim rights of the above Himalayan regions.  Amar Singh Thapa and other commanders had opinion that the lost region could be taken back by force. Therefore, British officials were eager for written agreement with Nepal.
    British was not ready only for rule over west of Kali River but British wanted to take the disputed land of Bhabhar and Tarai too. British Government wanted to weaken Nepal by all means.
                    Endeavors of Guru Gajraj Mishra
         Gajraj Mishra the Guru of Nepal King Ranbahadur was in exile in Banaras. Before, the war started, Nepal King sent money to Mishra that he starts dialogues for treaty with British government.  However, Gajraj Mishra did not act on that time.  However, after Nepal came under distress, Guru Gajraj Mishra became ready for starting dialogues with British officials. Gajraj Mishra reached Kathmandu with Chandrasekhar after receiving request from Nepal king. (Sanwal). Nepal officials were eager for treaty with British.
  Nepal King provided an authorization letter with his seal to Gajraj Mishra.
On 28th May 1815, Gajraj Mishra and Chandrasekhar met Lieutenant Colonel Bradshaw in Sugauli.
            Bradshaw put a paper of conditions before them. Bradshaw put condition of region of Bhabhar and Tarai from Kali to Sista, British asked Nepal to hand over Nagari and Nagarkot region for Sikkim.
              Guru Gajraj did not agree for the conditions of British.Gajrak Mishra explained that he was not authorized for Nepal leaving  Tarai , Nagari and Nagarkot.
After failure of meeting of Mishra and Bradshaw, High Command asked Edward Gardner for having discussion with Bamshah.

जाणा छ्न जु फ्योलड्यो धोर भौर, जोनि तै देख्णु एकट्क चकोर,
बात च पुराणी नै नि च गैल्या, चोली अर स्वाति की बात रे गैल्या

बरख्दु छौ पाणी सुक्या रगडो ,
पर चोली खुज्योन्दी छै स्वाति को दगडो,
कु जाणी सक्दो बिधाता का खेल
चोळी अर स्वाति दुई घडी को मेल

जन जन चोली ना त्तीस पछाणी
तन तन स्वाति छै दूर जाणी

भाग की चदरी ह्वै गैन ओळ
नि सुण्या कैन चोळी का बोल

तिसु ही काट द्युलु मै जनमु को फेर
मेरी रात की होली कबि त सबेर
कबि त होली पूरी मेरी क्वारी आस
मेरी स्वाति होली मेरा मेरा धोर
कबि त कारली मै पर गौर
कबि त बुथ्यली मै सास

सवाति तै थै मोति बणण की रीस,
नि सम्जी वीन चोळी की तीस
सुप्नौ की पुग्ड्यो प्डी गैन ओला
चली परदेस स्वाति को डोला
सीप तै मिली स्वाति ब्णी मोती,
चोळी न बि छोडी पराणु की जोती
तब बिटिन चोली न जन्म धर्या बीस
न मिली स्वाति न मिटे तीस
आज बि डान्ड्यो सुण ल्या चोळी को बोली,
मै तिसी मै तिसी, मै तिसी चोळी.

Shambhu Prasad Dhashmana: less is more
Critical and Chronological History of Modern Garhwali (Asian) Poetry – 279

         Late Shambhu Prasad Dhashman lived only for thirty six years (1930-1966) in this earth but he left his prints so powerful and deep that Bhakta Darshan Jee called him as one of the great Garhwali personalities in his famous and well researched book, "Garhwal ki Divangat Vibhtiyan".
No doubt, the flute player, the drawing creator, a dramatist and music lover Shambhu Prasad Dhashmana is famous in literary field for his Hindi poems but he also versed many Garhwali poems. We have only six Garhwali verses in print form and tens of his Garhwali poems are lost due to many reasons.
      Shambhu Prasad Dhashmana belonged to an elite family of Garhwal. Prayag Datt Dhashman " Lakhpati Ji " of ToLi village (Badalpur, Pauri Garhwal ) was his father and famous yogi Swami Ram was his uncle. He passed his graduation from Prayag Vishwavidyalaya with honour and did B.Ed. later on. He started his career as teacher and later on took commission in army and became Lieutenant in Territorial Army in 1962. His inclination was there for poetry and music from his childhood. He belonged to the same class of Hindi poetry creator, which Chandra Kumwar Bartwal belonged.
   As said earlier he created many Garhwali poems but for record sake, we have only seven Garhwali poems .
    Shambhu Prasad Dhashmana's poem Shri Badri Nath ki Jai Bola displays the prime importance for Garhwalis of Shri Badri Nath as Ganesh Ji is important for Hindus. He called Shri Badrinath jee the crown of Himalaya .
He used many newer and surprising symbols in his 'Geet' poetry. Geet poetry is about the responsibilities, actions , applications of our society for the growth and development . In this verse he also advocated about the care for below poverty people. The symbols in this poetry are boats, crossing the river, speed of boat, river water, storm and many more. In the same poem, he also presents the characterization of Garhwal and Garhwali community. I shall suggest the younger poets to read this poem and they . Definitely, will say that this poem is the example of , gagar men sagar'. The specialty and forte of this poem 'Geet' is that we don't feel that the poet is teaching (Adanu ) us .
     Other four poems , 'mait chhuti ge' 'ghaur bauDi awa, 'teru naunyaLu pardesh jandoo bwai' and 'yad oonki aand' are the poems of pathos, memoir, love of separation, depending on luck and circumstances beyond human power. Here, also the versifier used many newer symbols of his time. The poet seems be very creative in finding the words of daily uses or what we come in contact on daily basis . He used words like kuyedi, simwaLu, hiLwans, dharDi for symbolization. These poems of pathos may be called as classic poems of Garhwali language.
       No doubt we have only seven verses of Shambhu Prasad Dhashmana but those seven are also gems of Garhwali literature. These seven poems are published with his Hindi poems in a book form, 'Itni See Batiyan' by his able son Ashok Dhashmana , Baroda in the year 2000.
         We could have more Garhwali poems from Shambhu Prasad Dhashmana but he died in a motor accident near Kanshkhet (Manyarsyun) on twenty second march, 1966, at the age of thirty six.

हमर सिलोगी बजार तब बिटेन छन जब 1926 मा स्कूल खुल। अब भौत साल पैल इख इंटर कॉलेज बि खुल गे किन्तु विकास अब तक नि ह्वे छौ।
चूंकि पोस्ट ऑफिस बि सन 1930 बिटेन च सैत च  हम पोस्ट ऑफिस तै विकास की निशाणी नि मणदा होला ।   
जैदिन सिलोगी मा बिजली आई वैदिन बि सिलोगी मा क्वी उत्सव नि मनाए गे।  सिलोगी दगड़ हौर गांवुंमा बि बिजली  आयीं छै तो लोग अपण अपण गांवुं मा बिजली उत्सव मनाणा छया।  सिलोगी वास्तव मा सरा क्षेत्र वाळुक च याने  कि सिलोगी यथार्थ मा कैक बि नी च।  मतलब लोगुंन सिलोगी मा बिजली उत्सव नि मनाए।  इख तक कि दुकानदारुन बि बिजली उत्सव सिलोगी ना बलकणम अपण गांवुंम मनाये।   
जब बि चुनाव हूंद तो नेता लोग भाषण भीषण का वास्ता सिलोगी तै उचित स्थान मानिक सिलोगी की पवित्र वातावरण तै ध्वनि प्रदूषण अर झूठा अश्वासन से प्रदूषित करदन। अर अडगैं (क्षेत्र ) की जनता प्रत्येक कंडिडेट  से एकी सवाल करदी छे - सिलोगी को विकास कब ह्वाल ? कब ह्वाल ?
पिछला पंद्रा या उन्नीस सालों से खंड -तैड़िक ब्वारी श्रीमती  विजया बड़थ्वाल विधायक च।  अर जब बि   बिछला ढांगू की ब्वारी सिलोगी आंदि त सब्युंका एकी प्रश्न हूंद - सिलोगी का विकास कब होलु ? कब होलु ? होलु बि कि ना ?
स्टेट बैंक की एक शाखा खुल किन्तु अडगै (क्षेत्र ) वळु तै संतोष नि ह्वे कि विकास ह्वेइ गे।  रुड्युं मा कथगा बि गरम पाणी प्यावो तो बि जब तक ठंडु पाणी नि प्यावो तीस नि बुज्दी ,
विधायिका अर सांसदुंन जोर से धै लगै कि देखो सिलोगी मा बैंक खुल गे।  किन्तु क्वी बि खुस नि ह्वे।  सब्युंक एकि मत छौ बल बैंक शाखा खुलण क्वी विकास की निशाणी  थुका च।
सब लोग सिलोगी मा विकास नि हूण से हीनभावना ग्रसित छा , शर्मशार छ , अति लज्जित छा।  हूंद च हूंद च , जब कै मुख्य बजारौ विकास नि हो तो लज्जाजनक स्थिति से सामना करण ही पोड़द।  दुसर क्षेत्र का लोग जन गूमखाळ , भृगुखाळ,  चैलुसैण का लोग सिलोगी क्षेत्र का लोगुं तै क्या ताना दींद छा।  असह्य वेदना हूंदी छे।  मितै बि इख  मुंबई मा   गूमखाळ , भृगुखाळ,  चैलुसैण का लोग अविकसित सिलोगी का कारण हीन दृष्टि से दिखदा छा। 
अर जब वु दिन आई जब सिलोगी कु विकास ह्वे तो सारा इलाका का लोग मय जण बच्चा  सिलोगी मा इतना संख्या मा जमा ह्वेन कि इतना लोग तो तब बि जमा नि ह्वेन जब भगयान हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा हैलीकॉप्टर से सिलोगी ऐ छा।
सिलोगी मा जलसा जम्युं छौ।  खौळ -म्याळा मा क्या इथगा रौनक हूंदी ह्वेली  धौं।  रंगीन शमा छे।  माहौल  बगैर संगीत का संगीतमय हुयुं  छौ।

तै दिन बिटेन क्षेत्र वासी खासकर प्रवास्युंन बुलण -लिखण बंद कौर याल कि सिलोगी मा विकास नी हूणु च।  कै मुखन बोल सकदवां हम ? अब हमारा सिलोगी बि गूमखाळ , भृगुखाळ,  चैलुसैण समकक्ष जि ऐ गे।
अब हम खासकर प्रवासी  कै बि राजनेता तै नि पुछदा कि सिलोगी का विकास कब होगा।  विकास परिकाष्ठा की निशाणी अब सिलोगी मा स्थित च।
जी हाँ , जैदिन बिटेन  सिलोगी मा देसी -विदेशी दारु का ठेक्का खुल तै दिन बिटेन हम खुस छंवां कि सिलोगी का विकास ह्वे गे।  अब हमर बजार विकसित च , भंयकर रूप से विकसित च। 
विकासपर्व याने दारु ठेक्का खुलणो उपरांत वासिन्दा  सुनिंद मा छन , प्रवासी सुनिंद मा छन अर विधायिका श्रीमती विजया बड़थ्वाल तो कुम्भकरणी  नींद मा बेसुध च।

              On 4th July 1816, Bamshah informed Edward Gardner that Nepal King has authorized him for discussion on Treaty.
           Bamshah was not ready for his opponent group Thapa Dal getting credit for Treaty with British. His health was not permitting for him meeting Edward Gardner. Therefore, the brother of Bamshah Rudravir Shah the Subba of Salyan  met Edward Gardner many times.
  Rudravir Shah informed Edward Gardner that Nepal court authorized him for handing over the hill region and not the Tarai regions. Later on, Nepal court authorized to Rudravir Shah for Tarai region too. However, Rudravir did not agree handing over Tarai region to British.
         Rudravir Shah informed Gardner that all Nepali would fight for Tarai.
There was deadlock for treaty between Nepal and British for many days.
  Gardner put another condition that British were ready to offer Jagir to Nepalese Bhardar (Jagirdar) in Tarai. However, Nepal court did not agree as people were against handing voer Tarai to British.

                 When Amar Singh Thapa, Ranjor Singh and other commanders of west reached to Nepal they opposed the treaty.
          Those commanders told that it was better to die in battle than handing over the territory to British. Amar Singh Thapa sent a letter to Nepal king from Himachal. However, Nepal King did not receive that letter. Amar Singh Thapa was still firm on his ideas. He was opinion that when Nepal would hand over the whole territory to British it would be difficult for Nepal to sustain such huge army. He told boldly that those who were supporting treaty they would support British and in near future British would capture whole of Nepal.

हैरी-भैरी छै पुंगड़ी जु कैइ दिन,
जख्या-दुबलू वख आज जम्युं चा.
जौंकि तिबारी मा लगदी छै कछ्डी,
हिन्सोली-किन्गोड़ी वख आज लगीं चा.

बुढया-बुढड़ी अर छवटा नौनि-नौना,
इकुला-दुकला ही गौं मा रैगेनी.
बुढया बल्द अर ढांगी गौड़ी,
कूड़ी-छनुड़ी बि रीति ह्वैगेनी.

पुंगड़ी-पटली ह्वैगेनी बांजी,
सेरी-घेरी बि रुखड़ी ह्वैगेनी.
सगोड़ा-पतोड़ों मा जमदो कंडेया,
छूटा-पूटा निकज्जू ह्वैगेनी.

उन्द चली गैनी क्वी द्वार ढेकी
कैन ब्वे-बाब रखीं जग्वाल.
ढुन्गु फर्कैकी क्वी चली गैनी,
छट छोडि कि अपणो पहाड़.

गाड-गद्न्युं कु सुक्की गे पाणि,
डांडी-कांठी बि नांगी ह्वैगेनी.
पाणि मोला कु गौं मा ऐगेनी,
पंदेरा-नवल्यूं अग्यार नि रैनी.

दूध -घ्यू का सुकी गईं जळडा,
दारू गौं-गौं मा मिलण लगीं.
दूधि छोडि की पीणा छन नौना,
मूल़ा की कच्बोळी का दगड़ी

सड़क-इस्कूल खुली की जगों मा
सभ्यता कु विस्तार ही हूंदा .
इन्नू फूटी गे ख्वारो हमारो
सभ्यता सर्र हरचण लगीं चा.

मेरा प्रवासी भै-बन्दों सूणा,
चाहे छा तुम दुन्या कैबि कूणा.
तुम ख़ुशी से कमावा अर खावा
कब्बि -कब्बि तुम पहाड़ बि आवा.

अपणि ब्वेई त अपणि ही हूंद,
अपणि भूमि बि अपणि ही हूंद.
रिंगदा-रिंगदा कखि-कखी बि जैला
अन्तुरी मा त पहाड़ ही ऐला...

         The real name of Kamal Sahityalankar was Baliram Ghansala. Kamal Sahityalankar was born in 1909 in village Haruli, Talai Patti of Pauri Garhwal.
     

        Kamal Sahityalankar is prominent signature in Hindi poetry world and critics as Ram Chandra Shukla , Mahaveer Prasad Dwivedi, dr Vasudev Sharan Agarwal, Dr Pitamber Datt Barthwal, Babu Shyam Sundar Das , Babu Gulabrai praised for his geographical nature oriented and directive poems . However, Kaml Sahityalankar wrote more than hundred poems in Garhwali language . Kamal Sahityalankar is famous for using Salani dialects, memorizing geographical beauty of Garhwal and writing inspirational or directive poems in Garhwali language.
      Kamal Ghansala 'Sahityalankar' was born on 15th May 1909 in a Himalayan village Hali, Patti Talai , Salan Pauri Garhwal. Kamal got educational degree of Intermediate, Madhyama, Sahiyashashtri, Kavya Manishi and Sahityalankar from Pauri Garhwali, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar .Initially, he worked in Queta (now in Pakistan), shifted to Delhi after independence, and retired from All India Radio.
Kamal Sahityalankar published his poems in various regional periodicals and published his collection of poems book ' Swar Mandakini' (1982). All India Radio also relayed Garhwali poems of Kamal Ghansala Sahityalankar.
The Garhwali poems of Kamal Sahityalankar are related to describing the natural beauty of Garhwal, patriotism, providing direction to next generation. Kamal used symbolic words , create imagery in the mind of readers, used metaphor in praising Garhwal region. Many poems of Kamal Sahityalankar are symbolic too

Mi thain jalam bhumi teri khud lagdi bhair
Sadani yad aundi dialam jun jani pyari
In many poems he tries to use ham
Saujadyaon (ahaha )
Mi gadhali chhaun
Min badi kandali khaya
Mattha milaik chhanch khaya

जनु रम्यळु म्यारु मुलक इनु त कैको नी च
ज्ञान गुरु ब्वंदी दुनिया का बीच।
हथगुळि मा ब्रह्मकमल झमकदो कैलास
रूद्र महादेव जख देवतौं का बास
गंगा जमुना मा मुक्ति घोळिका छुळी च।
            हिंवाळी रौल्यूं को पाणी दूध जनो हूंद
            डांडिऊँ की चुफळि  मथि सर्ग थैं छूंद
            चंदन तिलक मनींद गंगा जीको कीच।
ऋतु  ऋतु  को फेरो यख खिलदा पारिजात
सूना का छै दिन हिंवळया चांदी कि छै रात
कर्म कळा रैंद यख अंगुळयूँ का बीच।

बावन तीरथ यख ऋषि मुन्यों का बास
हरर गंगा सरर जमुना ब्वगद आस पास

              There was no treaty even by discussion of British with Gajraj Mishra and Bamshah representatives. On 22nd July 1815, Governor General sent a threatening letter to Nepal King. In the threatening letter, Governor General stated that British believed on certain principles that it did not keep any demand that thereafter there was dispute.  The war was trust on us by Nepal as Nepal did not abide principles. Nepal thirsted war on British and British would not leave the rights to get back the loss occurred in war.
     However, due to insistences of Amar Singh Thapa and others Nepal court did not take any decision for treaty. There was hope of getting helps from China and Tibet Lamas.
            There was a discussion on the treaty in Nepal Court (Chhalbal). Amar Singh Thapa said that Nepal should wait the rainy season as British army had to go back in Rainy season. By that Nepal would get sufficient time for war with British. There was news that Chinese King sent an army from Digarchi for helping Nepal.
    Governor General closed the treaty discussion and instructed Ochterlony for new war with Nepal. Governor General authorized Ochterlony for discussion for treaty too. Governor General took decision for sending a huge army for Ochterlony.
The instruction for Ochterlony was -
  1-Major General John Wood with 5000 soldiers and a few guns would capture Tarai of Gorakhpur region.     If possible, Wood would capture  Palpa , Tenzing and west valley of Nepal.
2-Lieutenant Colonel Gasper Nichols would capture Doti with 6500 soldiers and 20 Guns through Pilipbhit.  Edward Gardner would march with Nichols for luring Bamshah to be King of Doti and helping British.  Lieutenant Colonel Adams with army would enter Doti through Kumaon.
3-In far East , Captain Latter would protect border and would inspire Sikkimese for surrounding Nagari Fort.
4- Ochterlony would capture Makwanpur. If Nepal King did not be ready for treaty Ochterlony would march for capturing Kathmandu.
In that second campaign, there were 35,000 soldiers and more than 100canons. That huge army was enough for threatening 12000 soldiers Nepal Army. Hastings wanted to threaten Nepal by huge army.
  However, Nepal was not ready for bending before British without a war.
