I would like to submit that if this country has to develop more faster and if the State of Uttarakhand has really to develop and fulfill the aspirations of the youth, and those who laid their lives for the state we need a serious attention of connectivity and development beyond the foothills.
China has made road and railways to the border and we cannot have a road to the border. Our roads from Almora side to the hills are in bad shape after the present monsoon, the road from Tanakpur to Champawat and Pithoragarh is full of slides. The widening of the road for the Dhauliganga Project is still not complete, though the project is complete and generating power.
From Rishikesh up the hills the widening of the road for Char Dham yatra is again in bad shape.
Rail link up hills has not been thought off till date and remains as left by the Birtishers.
Would suggest the following.
1. Use modern day technology to drill through the hills to get the rail link to the valleys in the hills.
2. Target could be to get to Karnapriyag, Gairsain (The future capital), Bageshwar, Pithoragarh.
Nothing is impossible in today's world of technology. The will is required.
Better late than never, the country needs to rise above party politics and see what the country needs in the long run. Development of barren hills with migrated population an easy approach to the neighbors and an infiltrated jungle.
Submitted to the committee.
Note: I can be available to share my experience in life to suggest methodology in an honorary capacity.
