Most of Garhwali –Kumauni film, documentary film and album creative-activists are pessimistic about Garhwali-Kumauni Film and Music Album Industry growth. However, the upcoming Garhwali film/album lyricist Dr. Rajeshwar Uniyal is optimistic for the development in Garhwali, Kumauni (Uttarakhandi) films and albums. Dr Rajeshwar states in his talk that when the filmmakers and music album makers will produce sensible and sophisticated films or when Garhwali –Kumauni film industry will give birth to directors as Abbas Kiarostami, Daruyush Mehrjui (Iranian film directors); Francois Truffaut, Jean Luc Godard, Jean Renoir, Jacque Rivette (French Film directors), Vittorio De Sica (Italian Film director), Tony Richardson (British Film Director) or Satya Jeet Ray the garhwali-Kumauni film industry will see splendid growth.
Dr Rajeshwar Uniyal stresses on making class documentary films to promoter Garhwali-Kumauni film literature.
Dr. Rajeshwar Uniyal was born in Shrinagar, Garhwal on 26/10/1959. Dr. Rajeshwar Uniyal had been political and literature activist in his college days. Dr. Rajeshwar Uniyal is well known research scholar on Garhwali-Kumauni culture and folk literature.
As far as Kumauni-Garhwali film and music albums are concerned, Dr. Rajeshwar Uniyal has written around fifteen (15) lyrics/songs for Garhwali films and music albums as –Mala Ku Shyam (produced-Shanti chaturvedi); Meru Uttarakhand, sa ra r r (music albums directed-produced by Mohini Dhyani-Sunil Patni); film –Ikhari Maya and coming film 'Meri Dhyani (Mohini Dhyani-Sunil Patni) .
Dr. Rajeshwar pays attention of images of natural beauty of Uttarakhand and its heritage.

" ओ गुड इवनिंग क्लार्क! यो तेरि आवाज तै क्या ह्वाइ? इन लगणु जन बुल्यां तु बीमार ह्वे गे।"

" अरे अबि अबि मीन नेट पर ऑस्ट्रेलियन अखबार पढ़ी।"

" अर अखबार पौढिक त्यार ज्यु बुल्याणु होलु कि अब्याक अबि क्रिकेट कैप्टेंसी ही ना क्रिकेट खिलण इ छोड़ि द्युं।"

" हाँ भै! धोनी !म्यार ज्यू बुल्याणु च ....। अरे हेराल्ड सन अखबारौ पत्रकारन लेखि कि आज ऑस्ट्रेलियन क्रिकेट की मौत ह्वे गे। अब इन मा कै बि ऑस्ट्रेलियन क्रिकेटरक ज्यू क्रिकेट मा कनकै लगि सकुद?"

' हां हूंद च। जब मेरि टीम ऑस्ट्रेलियाम हारि तो इन्डियन प्रेसन बि इनि कुछ लेखि छौ। वै बगत म्यार बि ज्यू बुल्याइ बल क्रिकेट छोड़ि ' मलाया की शराब की एजेंसी ले ल्यूं। अर अब यी अखबारनबीस बुलणा छन बल धोनी जन कैप्टेन आज तलक यीं दुन्याम पैदा इ नि ह्वे।"

" ये धोनी ! पता च जौन कबि क्लब क्रिकेट नि ख्याल वो लिखणा छन कि मि तैं अर वाटसन या वार्नर तैं स्पिन कन खिलण चयेंद। कन ऑफ स्पिन तैं स्पिन होण से पैलि इ खिलण चयेंद "

" हां भै क्लार्क! इनि होंद जब मेरि टीम तुम ऑस्ट्रेलियन टीम से हारि छे त जौंन गिल्लि डंडा तक नि ख्याल वो हम तै अखबार से नसीहत दीणा छया बल फास्ट बौल कन खिलण, उछ्ल्दि गिंदी पर मिडल बैट कनो अडाण अर बाउंसर पर हुक कनो मारण।"

" अर हाँ धोनी! यू नो ! जौन भारत कबि नि द्याख, जौन कबि नि द्याख कि मार्चम हैदराबादम कनि गरमी, तैंची अर उमस होंद वो लिखणा छन बल म्यार फास्ट बौलर पैटीनसन तै डेढ़ सौ किलोमीटर प्रति घंटा रफ्तार से गिंदी चुलाण चयेंद।"

" क्लार्क ! हूंद च। जब मेरी टीम ऑस्ट्रेलियाम हारणि छे त इन्डियन मीडिया भारतीय पाठकों तैं सिखाणों छौ कि ऑस्ट्रेलिया की आबो हवा मा कन खिलण चयेंद।"

" धोनी !पता च एक ऑस्ट्रेलियाई अखबारन ल्याख कि ऑस्ट्रेलियाई टीम म कुरकरा बिस्किट जन बि जान नी च।"

" हूंद च हूंद च ! रे क्लार्क ! जब मेरि टीम ऑस्ट्रेलियाम हारणि छे तो कथगा इ नौसिखिया पत्रकारुन ल्याख बल भारतीय टीम बालू का टीला है जो एक फास्ट गेंद से ढह जाती है।अर अब वो ही पत्रकार लिखणा छन बल भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम चीन की दीवार है जिसे भेदना किसी के बस में नही है। "

" धोनी ! गजब त तब ह्वाइ जब एक पत्रकार लिखणु च बल क्लार्क ऑस्ट्रेलियन टीम की फिकर से जादा विज्ञापन की फिकर मा लग्युं रौंद।"

" ओहो क्लार्क ! यो इ होंद जब मेरि टीम ऑस्ट्रेलिया से हरणि छे तों पत्रकार लिखणा छा बल चूंकि धोनी को ध्यान विज्ञापन बटोळण पर हि रौंद ना कि इन्डियन क्रिकेट टीम तै समाळणम तो भारतीय टीम हरणि च ।"

" धोनी ! हद त या च बल कथगा इ कमेंटेटर बुलणा छन बल ऑस्ट्रेलियाई टीम मा एका नी च , यूनिटी की भारी कमी च।"

" क्लार्क ! रुणै जरूरत नी च जब टीम हार्दि च तो लोगुं तै तागत मा बि कमजोरी दिखेंद।"

" यां हे धोनी ! कथगा इ पुराणा क्रिकेटर लिखणा छन बल क्लार्क मा कैप्टेंसी का एक बि गुण नि छन अर मेरि निर्णय शक्ति पर शक करणा छन।"

" अरे क्लार्क भुला! वो इनि होंद। जब मेरि टीम ऑस्ट्रेलियाम हारी छे तो कथगा इ पत्रकार अर मोहिन्दर अमरनाथ अर वैक दिल्ली का दगड्या जन कि कीर्ति आजाद, अशोक मल्होत्रा जनोंन बोलि बल महेंद्र सिंह धोनी तै कैप्टेंसी छोड़ि दीण चयेंद।"

" यार धोनी ! इन मा कैप्टेंसी कनै करे जावो?"

" डियर क्लार्क ! म्यार त एकी सिद्धांत च बल आज हार तो भोळ जीत बि होलि ही।"

Pradip Bhandari is one of the prominent figures of Hilliyood filmdom (Garhwali-Kumauni –Uttarakhandi film industry). Five VCD films and three documentary films are in his credit as film director. Garhwali film director Pradip is of opinion that Garhwali-Kumauni films require those stories –script writers accelerating films who know the tact of popular films.
Born on 3/8/1971 in Ringoli, Lotsu, Tihri Garhwal, Pradip Bhandari has interest in folk culture and folk dramas. Pradip is also a journalist. Pradip Bhandari edits and publishes a monthly Garhwali-Kumauni film magazine 'Hillywood' from Mussoorie. Pradip is also distributors for local language prerecorded VCDs.
Pradip Bhandari wrote and directed following VCD films:
'Kaika Ban' (2004) is one of the hit films of Garhwali and Kumauni languages.
'Jiya ki Ladi '(2007) takes the subject of woman struggle and her sacrifice.
'Aj aur Abhi do' (2008) is based on Uttarakhand movement.
'Bhagat Ghandyal' (2010) is based on the subject of Ghandyal deity.
'Dhakkam Dhakka' is a commedy VCD film.
Pradip also wrote and directed three tourist and religious places based documentary VCD films. 'Mai Mussoorie 'was appraised by audience and critics too.
Pradip Bhandari is busy in preparation of upcoming film based on the subject of corruption in rural Uttarakhand. Bhandari is also chairperson of Uttarakhand Film, Television and Radio Association.

My Uttarakhandi friend who is staying in the highest most tower of Mumbai was telling me , "Bhishm ! Now I am tired of distributing a bundle of pencils, a few note books to a few poor students in social functions of Uttarakhandi organizations."

I said , " Yeh! It is computer era"

Without any pause he cried," Oh ! No I am not thinking to help Uttarakhandi students by distributing them computers."

" Oh! I thought that .." I answered

" Now I am thinking that the social organizations should distribute Uttarakhandi Cine awards" he said

I supported his views and said," Yes! For last twenty years after Jagwal released , our social organizations were ignoring cine artists, cine workers of Uttarakhand film, audio industry "

" From your youth, you are always silly in thinking. " he shouted on me

" But you only told .." I argued

He made me understand," He Lata (dull or fool) by birth , Bhisham ! I am not talking to give recognition to the cine artists"

Confusingly I asked, " But I think the award distribution means offering Uttarakhandi Cine Artists their dues of recognition"

He explained whisperingly," I am not saying that the cine artists get due recognition and respects . I mean I should also distribute cine awards ."

I was more confused

He cleared , "See! In Delhi and north, Purnendu Chauhan, Vipin panwar, Vivel Patwal, Manu , Chandrkant Negi, Neerakj Rawat will get good name after YU Cine Awards . Here in Mumbai, Rajeshwar Uniyal , Raman Kukreti, Raturi Ji Maharaj , Mahipal singh Negi, Dinesh Bisht and company will create very good image when Uttaranchal Vichar Manch concludes the Cine Awards . I am sure , after two awards, every Uttarakhandi social organization will run for organizing Cine Awards "

He paused for my support and I supported him by not asking question.

He said, " It means there will be "Cine Award Ka Mausam" and I should also take benefit of this Cine Award mausam "

I wanted to listen more from him . He said," what you do , post a press release that I shall be distributing Uttarakhandi Awards in the function."

I watched his enthusiasm .

He said, " Send press release at least in fifty newspapers of Uttarakhand that I am distributing Cine awards"

I asked, " Which is the social organization ?"

"Kisee ko bhi pata lenge " he explained

I asked ," What will be venue of Award Ceremony ?"

He told," Don't worry"

I asked, " What will be date?"

He said," It does not matter."

I was trying to understand,"

He said ," Just you send the press release that I shall distribute the Uttarakhandi Cine Awards in a function of a very famous Uttarakhandi social organization. I want that before other social workers release their press release I should get fame because of Cine Award Mausam"

He explained again," isko kahte Hain bahti ganga men Hat dhona "

When you meet Hindi, Bhojpuri film-TV serial music director Sunil Patni in any Garhwali-Kumauni social organization's meet you will surprise that a non Garhwali Sunil Patni speaks better Garhwali than you. Under the banner of Shri Badri Vishal Music Company, with his wife Mohani Dhyani Patni, Sunil Patni produced and directed a VCD film and four music albums.
Sunil Patni was born on 5/12/1968 in Delhi. From his childhood he was attracted to music. He took music training in Gandhrva and under other musicians. Sunil Patni was called a 'Pianists' in his student life. Sunil came to Mumbai and tried his talent with Hindi TV serial as music director. Till date Sunil provided back ground music and music to more than hundred Hindi TV serials and more than hundred Bhojpuri films and music albums.
Eighteen years back, Sunil Patni married to a music lover Garhwali girl Mohni Dhyani (Ranakot, Kandwalsyun) and was attracted to Garhwali culture, folk music and heritage. Mohini's father is a priest in Badrinath temple. Sunil frequently visits Badrinath valley.
Ikhari Maya is first VCD film of Shri Badri Vishal Music Company, Meru Uttarakhand, S r r etc are music albums of the same banner. Sunil Patni provides opportunities to new talents than already in the industry. Ram Chamoli, Dr. Rajeshwar Uniyal a couple of names those got introduction in the industry due to Mohini and Sunil.
Sunil Patni is optimistic about future of Garhwali-Kumauni film industry. Sunil states that if the subject of film and music album is sophisticated, according to Garhwali culture the audience likes it but not against culture.
At present, Sunil is busy in the post production of 'Meri Dhyani' a Devi based subject of Garhwali film. Sunil is ready to l release the religious Garhwali film 'Meri Dhyani' on the occasion of Navratra of April 2013.

उत्तराखंडी फिल्म अवार्ड्स की आवश्यकता

सन १९८३ से उत्तराखंडी फिल्मो की शुरुवात हुयी। किन्तु सही माने में यंग उत्तराखंड संस्था , दिल्ली ने सन २०१० से उत्तराखंड सिने अवार्ड द्वारा फिल्मों व फ़िल्मी रचनाकारों को सम्मान देना शुरू किया। यंग उत्तराखंड साइन अवार्ड्स के बाद कुछ एनी संस्थाओं ने भी प्रयास किये किन्तु ये प्रयास छोटे स्तर पर ही किये गये।

उत्तराखंडी फिल्म अवार्ड्स से कई लाभ हैं

उत्तराखंडी फिल्म अवार्ड्स याने भाषाई आन्दोलन में सहभागिता - अपनी भाषा व संस्कृति की सुरक्षा, प्रसार, क्रमगत विस्तार व सही परिवर्तन सरकार का नही अपितु समाज की जुम्मेवारी है। केवल लिखित साहित्य से ही भाषाई आन्दोलन नही चलता अपितु अन्य माध्यमों की अपना महत्व है। फ़िल्में, म्यूजिक अल्बम व डौक्युमेंट्री फ़िल्में भाषाई आन्दोलन के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण माध्यम हैं। हिंदी के विकास में फिल्मो/टी.वी. सीरियलों का बह्गुत बड़ा हाथ है। जब फिल्मों , म्यूजिक अलबमों और डौक्युमेंट्री फिल्मों को मान सम्मान मिलता है तो स्वयं ही अवार्ड देने की प्रक्रिया भाषा व संस्कृति की सुरक्षा, प्रसार, क्रमगत विस्तार व सही परिवर्तन में भागीदारी निभाती है।

फिल्म व म्यूजिक अलबम्स युवाओं अपनी भाषा और संस्कृति की और आकर्षित करने का महत्वपूर्ण माध्यम है जब उत्तराखंड साइन अवार्ड जैसे अवार्ड देने वाली संस्थाएं अवार्ड से पहले व बाद में विज्ञापनों या जन सम्पर्क माध्यमों से प्रचार प्रसार करतीं हैं तो स्वयमेव भाषा का प्रश्न लेकर समाज के सामने आ जाते हैं और इस प्रचार प्रसार की प्रक्रिया से भाषाई आन्दोलन को बल मिलता है। उत्तराखंडी समाज जो कुछ अभिनव कारणों से अपनी भाषा व संस्कृति छोड़ने को मजबूर हैं वे फिल्म अवार्डों के जरिये भाषा व संस्कृति से जुड़ने लगते हैं।

उत्तराखंडी फिल्म अवार्ड्स याने संस्कृति प्रचार आन्दोलन- फिल्म अवार्ड सामुदायिक स्तर पर संस्कृति संवाहक का काम करता है। फिल्म रचना धर्मी संस्कृति व परम्परा के पोषक होते हैं। जब कोई संस्था जैसे यंग उत्तराखंड सिने अवार्ड देती है तो परोक्ष व अपरोक्ष रूप से फिल्म अवार्ड संस्कृति पोषण में संवाहक का काम करते हैं।

उत्तराखंडी फिल्म अवार्ड्स याने संस्कृति व भाषा संरक्षण पर विचार विमर्श : फिल्म अवार्ड देने की प्रक्रिया से समाज में संस्कृति व भाषा संरक्षण पर विचार विमर्श की प्रक्रिया शुरू करवाती है। इस तरह उत्तराखंडी फिल्म अवार्ड्स संस्कृति व भाषा संरक्षण पर विचार की प्रक्रिया हेतु उत्प्रेरण का काम भी करते है।

कम्युनिटी फिल्म अवार्ड याने अपने को सम्मान: जब किसी को क्म्म्युनिती फिल्म अवार्ड मिलता है तो समाज में एक संदेस जाता है कि हमे समाज में अपने चितेरों व अपने रचनाधर्मियों को सम्मान देना ही चाहिए।

उत्तराखंड फिल्म समालोचना को बढावा; फिल्म उद्योग विकास के लिए फिल्म समालोचना प्रक्रिया एक आवश्यक तत्व है। फिल्म अवार्ड्स से उत्तराखंड फिल्म समालोचना के लिए मार्ग भी प्रसिस्थ होता है.

Many critics state that there is shortage of knowledgeable technicians in Garhwali and Kumauni filmdom (Hillywood). However, it is not so. There are well conversant film-creative in Kumauni-Garhwali filmdom (Hillywood) as Rajendra Chauhan who provided music for at least 5000 songs (Hindi, Bhojpuri, Ladakhi, Awadhi, Haryanvi, Himachali, Kumauni and Garhwali).
Rajendra's forefathers settled in Kotdwara from Chakotiya, Masi, Almora, Kumaun long back. Born on 28/1/1967 at Kotdwara, Garhwal, Rajendra had attraction for music and songs. In his student life, Rajendra Chauhan used to participate in cultural programs regularly. After finishing his studies, Rajendra Chauhan came to Delhi and joined 'T Series' where Rajendra got opportunities providing music for more than 5000 songs in various languages music albums or audio cassettes.
Rajendra Chauhan provided music for Garhwali VCD films as 'Bwari to ini (1998, director- B.s Negi); Satmanglya (1999, directed by Mahavir Negi); Bhagwani Beti (directed by Subhash sajwan, 2003) and Pativrta Rami (directed by Santosh Khetwal, 2010).

Rajendra Chauhan is worried about worsening situation for Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) films and music albums that the producers don't get return in time or nor get return at all. Chauhan states that in long past, fifty music Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) albums were being released every month and now, he does not get news of new release. However, Chauhan is optimistic that Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) film creative will find the ways in nearest future and Garhwali-Kumauni (Hillywood) film industry will re-bloom.

Kanta Prasad was full time director of films as ' Kalchakra' 'Meru Kalya' (2009), 'Shyam Dhaleni ch') and he is screen playwright too.
