  The medicines   medical practices medical vocabularies mentioned in Garuda Purana are not original but compile from old Samhitas /texts. However, following medicinal words are new first tie used in Garuda Purana –

The first Chapter about Ayurveda is about remedies for all diseases one by one .
The beginning of firsts chapter of Garuda Purana starts from Dhanvantari calling Sushruta. There are names of diseases and remedies. The chapter starts by Shloka of Ashtanghridaya (Gupta Era Ayurveda text). Therefore, it is sure that the compliers added first chapter in Garuda Purana after Gupta era.   In this chapter , there is description of common diseases and their remedies.
     After the above there is fever and remedies in Garuda Purana. The descriptions are based on old Ayurveda Sangraha (Collections) as -Vat, Pitta and Kafa. Garuda Purana describes that the is death /Moksha on 12th day of fever. The statement is based on Harit (Atideva)
  There are descriptions of reasons of illnesses, diseases, symptoms  remedies of diseases  etc. narrate by Narayan to Garuda – Raktapita (mixture of blood and biles , Kas (cough), Swas (respiration) , hiccoughs,  reasons and symptoms of deadly disease tuberculosis;  ,  reasons and symptoms of Sangrahani (dysentery); ,  reasons and symptoms of disinterestness , ,  reasons and symptoms of  thrust; ,  reasons and symptoms of heart diseases; ,  reasons and symptoms of urine disorder ; ,  reasons and symptoms , remedies of gonorrhea ; reasons and symptoms , remedies of mental disorder ; reasons and symptoms , remedies of localized abdominal tumor ; reasons and symptoms , remedies of worms problem in intestines; reasons and symptoms , remedies of stomachache etc. (Chaturvedi and Atideva )
Garuda Purna deals with common remedies (Atideva) .

  Garuda Purna depicts uses of iron dusts with butter milk for jaundice.

Garuda Purana depicts many common sayings or beliefs  as washing eyes after arising  for eye health, (GP 117/13) not to take curd in night (That suggest the creator of Garuda Purna was from north India )
              Diets in Garuda Purana
  Garuda Purana also deals with diets an food for healthy body in a separate chapters. Garuda Purana models the chapters as per Sushruta Samhita and with names them as Sushruta Samhita as – annapanavidhi and anupanavvdhi (Susita Pande )
Garuda Purana classifies the edible products with their properties but names them by their prominent tastes.
Garuda Purana names (nomenclature) the therapeutic products as per Dravya properties (Susmita Pande). Garuda Purana also depicts cereals as per their nutritional values. 
   Susmita Pande offers details of agriculture products, diet science and medicinal plants depicted in Garuda Purana.
Purana offers many remedies for illness by intake of different foods for different problems. Ayurveda is not the principles of curing but not to get illness. Therefore, All Puranas that way or this way suggests intakes of nutritious food and juices and in time.

   यह एक  कडुआ सत्य  है बल गुप्त काल पश्चात आयुर्वेद विचार को किसी भी सरकार ने परिश्रय नहीं दिया किन्तु समाज ने आयुर्वेद को परिश्रय देकर आयुर्वेद विचार जीवित रखा. . स्वतंत्रता उपरान्त भी आयुर्वेद विचार विकास में सरकारों की भूमिका नगण्य ही रही।  आयुर्वेद पर्यटन भी भगवान भरोसे केरल समेत भारत में विकसित हुआ।  आज केरल सरकार आयुर्वेद परतं विकास में अहम् भूमिका निभा रही है किन्तु वास्तव् में भूतकाल में गैर सरकारी आयुर्वेद औषधि निर्माताों ने ही अहम भूमिका निभायी।  इन औषधि निर्माताओं ने केरल को दुनिया का आकर्षक औषधि पर्यटक राज्य बनाने में अहम योगदान दिया।  वर्तमान में नीं प्रमुख आयुर्वेद औषधि निर्माता आयुर्वेद औषधि निर्माण में संलग्न है।
कोट्टाक्कल आर्य वैद्यशाला - १९०२ में स्थापित इस वैद्यशाला के चिकित्सालय भी है और दिल्ली में शाखाएं भी। इस कम्पनी का एक आयुर्वेद कॉलेज भी है।
आर्य वैद्य फार्मेसी  कोयंबटूर -  सन १९३ में स्थापित ४५० औषधि निर्माण करने वाली कम्पनी कई क्रियाओं इ संलग्न है जैसे चिकित्सालय , अन्वेषण व दवा रिटेल
वैद्यरतम औषधालय - ४०० से अधिक औषधि निर्माता के चिकित्सालय भी हैं
नागार्जुन - १९८९ में स्थापित ५०० से बिंडी  आयुर्वेद औषधि निर्माता के सारे भारत में १००००  से अधिक रिटेल आउटलेट्स हैं तथा २८ देशों मौषधि निर्यात भी करती है कम्पनी।
धन्वन्तरी वैद्यशाला - १९३३ में स्थापित कम्पनी के ३५० आउटलेट्स हैं।
केरल आयुर्वेद लिमिटेड - १९४५ में स्थापित केरल में एक मात्र लिस्टेड कम्पनी है। विदेशों में भी शाखाएं हैं।
वैद्यधाम वैद्यशाला व् नर्सिंग होम - १९१२ में स्थापित कम्पनी ७०० औषधि निर्माण करती है व रोगियों की चिकित्सा करती है
SNA  औषधालय - १९२० में स्थापित कम्पनी का चिकित्सालय भी है।

कंडमकुलती वैद्यशाला - १५० वर्ष पूर्णा चिकित्सालय कई क्षेत्रों में अग्रणी है।
पंकजकस्तूरी  - आधुनिक कम्पनी १९८८ में स्थापित कम्पनी बड़ी तेजी से विकास कर रही है।
श्रीधरेयम - १९९९ में स्थापित आयुर्वेद नेत्र चिकित्सा में प्रसिद्ध
धात्री  - एक पारिवारिक कपनी का २०० साल पुराना  इतिहास है कई  आयुर्वेद चिकित्सा क्षेत्रों में संलग्न  १९९० में संस्थागत हुयी।
सीताराम आयुर्वेद फार्मेसी - १९२१ में स्थापित कम्पनी दुनिया की पहली GMP सर्टिफाईड आयुर्वेद कम्पनी है
न्यू उदय फार्मेसी ऐंड आयुर्वेद लेबोटरी - यकृत ोग निदान विशेषज्ञ है और यकृत औषधि कामिलारी से एकदम प्रसिद्ध हुयी
उपरोक्त वृत्तांत सिद्ध करते हैं कि केरल के वैद्य सौ साल से पहले संगठित हो कर क्र रहे थे और इनके अथक परिश्रम से ही आज केरल आयुर्वेद चिकित्सा का महाराजा है।

The above verse states that Price Sudarshan Shah was learned person, strong brave kind , manly, prince and people perceived Sudarshan as incarnate one.  Sudarshan shah used to be with good company (scholars and characters ) and used patron literary persons and creative ones.

  Atideva states that many Purana describe Arogyashala (Hospitals or Sanatoriums ) . Skanda Purana (7th century AD) admires that an establishment of Arogyashala (hospitals or Sanatoriums ) Skanda Purana describes that one who erects  Arogyashala (Hospitals or Sanatoriums ) equipped with qualified physicians and suitable accessories gets the fruits of pious deeds. There is no  limit for fruits of pious deeds. Skanda Purana put Arogyadan on top of all donations.  Skanda Purana illustrates –
आरोग्यशाला य: कुर्यात म्हावैद्यपुरुस्कृताम
सर्वोपकरवणओपेताम तस्य पुण्यफल शृणु

Skanda Purana also describes the Hospital construction process and essentials in hospitals (Ayurveda ke Prerarna Srotra ).
  Skanda Purana describing building hospitals suggests that there must be sufficient medicines and beds. There must be wise and  learned doctor in hospitals .There must be sufficient quantity of food articles in hospitals. Charak Samhita and Kalidasa also described in the same tone or Purana took references from Charaka Samhita about characteristics of hospitals and importance of arranging medical facilities for patients (Atideva)  .
    It is evident that hospitals were attracting ill tourists from other regions too thus creating medical tourism if not modern way of medical tourism but medical tourism of the respective period.

  एक दैं मि अर मेरी मां धाणी जाणा था त एक छुटु  बेडु डाळम चखुलो घोल देखि मीन नील आकर्षक अंडों पर हाथ लगै दे।  आसपास चखुल चूं  चूं  करणा  छा तो मांन  जोर की आवाजम ब्वाल   - ना ना अण्डों पर हाथ नि लगा त्यार हथ लगाणो बाद चखुलूंन घोल म आण बंद कौर दीण।  मि   झसकेक भ्युं ऐ ग्यों।
    तब मांन या कथा लगै छे -
भौत साल पैल कै गां म  एक मनिख छौ  सुल्तानु।  बड़ो भलो मनिख छा।  संत स्वभाव को सुलतान पवित्तर  आत्मा छे बल।  लोगुं भौत काम आंद छौ।  कैक बि मौ मदद करणम पैथर नि रौंद  थौ सुलतानू।  गाँव वळ  सुलतानु भौत बड़ैं करदा था। कुज्याण क्या कांड  लगिन  धौं बल बुड्या हूण से पैल इ  सुल्तानु  कुचर काणु  ह्वे गे निरपट  अन्धो।  कथगा इलाज कराई  कथगा घड्याळ  धरिन धौं पर सुल्तानक आँख ठीक नि  ह्वेन  कुचरकाणो कुच्यर काण ही राई अर अन्धो ही भग्यान ह्वे। 
    मरणो  बाद बल ज्यूंरा सुलतान तैं भेमाता  दरबार म ली गेन।  भेमाता  (ब्रह्मा ) न निर्णय दे बल  सुल्तानन  सब पुण्य काम करिन त ये तैं सोरग  भयाजो।  यु नर्क लैक नी। जु बि एन पाप कौरी छ वांक सजा भूलोक म इ भुक्तिक ऐ गे।  बिचारो कथगा साल अंधा राई धौं।
सुल्तानन  पूछ - तो भेंटा जी मीन क्वी पाप कार जु मि  अंधा हूं ?
भीमाता क जबाब थौ  - हाँ तीन पाप कार छौ तो तू अँधा ह्वे।
"मीन क्या पाप कौर जु मि अँधा हूं ?"  सुल्तानन पूछ
भीमाता क उत्तर छौ -  एक ना तीन पांच छै  दैं  निरीह चखुलों  अंडा फोड़िन जु एक जघन्य पाप च।
या छे पर्यावरण बचाणै  कथा।

वन औषधि पादप विपणन


  केरल की भौगोलिक स्थिति इ पहाड़ हैं , ढलान हैं , घाटी है , नदी हैं , गदन हैं , समतल भूमि है और समुद्र तट भी है जो केरल को औषध पादप हेतु सही भूमि प्रदान करता है।  कह सकते हैं केरल में सबसे अधिक औषध पादप उगते व उगाये जाते हैं।

   जैसा की सभी जानते हैं बल सबसे बड़ी कठिनाई वन औषध पादपों का एकत्रीकरण , समय रहते भण्डारीकरण व फिर उनको बिकवाना है। केरल में भी यही कठिनाई हैं किन्तु एक सौ साल के आयुर्वेद चिकित्सा विकास ने औषधि वनस्पति विपणन समस्या की कम कर दिया है। 

केरल में केरल स्टेट फेडरेसन ऑफ़ सिडूल्ड कास्ट ऐंड सिडूल्ड ट्राइब कॉपरेटिव्स लिमिटे गैर काष्ठ वन औषधि पादप खरीदती है और उनका विपणन भी करती है।  फेडरेसन के अंतर्गत सरे केरल में फैली 34 आदिवासी कॉपरेटिव संस्थाएं है जो पादप खरीदती व विपणन करती हैं।

  केरल सहकारी संस्थानों के अतिरिक्त गैर सरकारी व्यापारी व स्वयं एकत्रीकरण कर्ता भी औषध पादप बेचते हैं।

   व्यापारी आदि वासियों को अग्रिम भोजन , पैसा दे देते हैं व फिर दबाब के तहत आदि वासी या अन्य औषधि पादप इन व्यापारियों को बेच देते हैं और व्यापारी पादपों या पादप अंगों को निर्माताओं को बेचते हैं।

माइनर फारेस्ट प्रोडक्ट  कमेटियां  क्षेत्रीय आदि वासी सहकारी संस्थाओं को  पादप एकत्रीकरण हेतु वन आबंटित करते हैं।  ये आदि वासी संथाएं वनों में टेम्पोरेरी डिपो जबजल में खोल देते हैं फिर इन्हे बड़े केंद्र में लाया जाता है और फिर इन एकत्रित औषधि पाड़पों की नीलामी की जाती है।

कुछ पादपों को भण्डारीकृत कभी किया जा सकता जैसे सिदारहोमबीफीफोलिया या डेस्मोडियम गैंगेटिकम आदि को सीधे निर्माताओं को निगोशिएसन द्वारा बेचा जाता है।

सरकार व सहकारी संतानों के अथक पर्यटन के बाद भी  70  प्रतिशत गैर कायस्थ वन औषधि वनस्पति व्यापारियों को ही बेचा जाता है क्योंकि व्यापारी कुछ सुविधाएं ( कोई प्रशासनिक झंझट नहीं ) व अग्रिम धन देते हैं।  ये व्यापारी खरीदे पादपं को आढ़तियों को बेच देते हैं जो इन पादपों को विदेश व अन्य भारतीय राज्यों में निर्यात करते हैं।

कई जिलों में पादप एकत्रिकर्ता  बाजार में बुधवार व शनिवार अपना एकत्रित किया पादप नीलामी द्वारासीधे बेचते हैं (अग्यसत्म बायलोजिकल पार्क कोट्टूर ) . नीलामी फेडरेसन की देखरेख में होता है जिससे व्यापरी आदि वासियों का दोहन न कर सकें। वैसे यह विधि शायद पाचीनतम विपणन विधि है तब फेडरेसन नहीं थे।

    There was chaos in Kumaon and Garhwal from the day Sudarshan Shah took birth.  When Sudarshan Shah might be five ix years old, Gorkha attacked on Kumaun in 1790.  It is said that Harshadeva Joshi invited Gorkha for attacking on Kumaon that Mohan Chand is ousted from horn of Kumaon.
      By help of Harshadeva Joshi, Gorkha captured Almora in February 1790 by outing Kumaon ruler Mohan Singh and Lal Singh and his uncle Lal Singh.
       Gorkha planned a strategy for capturing Garhwal in 1791. Harsha Dev Joshi helped Gorkha for capturing Garhwal too. However, no Garhwali was ready for breaching his mother land as Joshi . With all odds the Garhwali people and kingdom officers were satisfied with King Pradyumana Shah.
Gorkha used to attack with flanking strategies on Garhwal Kumaon border regions. Gorkha attacked through Bhabhar Kotdwara and reached to Langurgarh (Dwarikhal and near Gumkhal). There was fierce battle between Gorkha and Garhwali soldiers in Bhabhar and Langurgarh.  Gorkha soldiers remained stationed in Langurgarh for many months.  Sirmour King came with  army to Langurgarh. There was accord between Gorkha and Garhwal Kingdoms.  It was decided forcefully that a ambassador of Garhwal would be in Nepal and a Nepal ambassador would be in Garhwal. Garhwal Kingdom had to pay for the both.  Nepal government increased tax or Uphar amount to 9000. Nepali officers used to come for religious tour and Garhwal Kingdom used to pay the expenses. In reality,  Garhwal kingdom was spending more than Rs 25000 on Nepalese.

  दक्षिण गढ़वाळम इन गौं सैत क्वी नि ह्वालु जख सुल्ताना डाकू कथा प्रचलित नि रै होली।  बुल्दा त इन छन बल अंग्रेजूं अत्याचार से सुलतान बल सुल्ताना डाकू बौणअर बिजनौर को रोबिन हुड

छौ  बल जी सरकारी खजाना लूटि गरीब गुरबों म बंटदो छौ।  पर हमर जिना  याने  डवोली डबराल स्यूं या जसपुर ढांगू म सुल्ताना डाकू की कथा कुछ हौरि इ च।  यांकुणि बुल्दन बल लोक कथाओं स्थानीय भेद।  आज खायी कखड़ी भोळ खायी बखरी सुल्ताना डाकू पर फिट बैठदी। मेरी नानी स्व श्रीमती श्रीमती सदानंद डबराल न या कथा कुज्याण कथगा दै सुणै होली धैं।

     भौत वरसों ना सि यार ददा जी बगतो की इ छ्वीं  होली बल ऊना भाभर जिना  गुज्जर अडगैं (क्षेत्र )म एक निर्दयी क्रूर डाकू ह्वे बल सुल्ताना डाकू।  बल लाट साब अर ग्वारा सिपै बि  तै डाकू नाम सुणि  डरण बिसे जांद छा बल।  सौकार बिचारा त बल तैक डौरन सींद ई नि  छा बल।  हुस्यार इथगा  छौ बल कथगा लाट साब ऐन अर कथगा सिपै लैन पर क्वी वै  गुज्जर डाकू नि पकक्ड़ सकिन भै।  दुर्जन कथगा बि हुस्यार ह्वावो पकड़म आयी जान्दो बल।

     एक दिन बल एक लाट साबन  सुल्ताना डाकू पकड़ इ द्याई अर  काळों डांड अदालत म खड़ कर दे।  ये ब्वे कन  अदालत हूंदी रै होली तब झट झटाक काजीन फाँसीक सजा सुणाइ दे वे डाकू तैं।  डाकू हाकिम से दरख्वास्त कार बल मि  तैं  ना बल्कणम  मेरी ब्वे तै फांसी सजा सुणाओ।

  इन मा  हाकिमन सुल्तानाक  ब्वै भट्याई।  सुल्तानान अपण ब्वै कुण ब्वाल बल इखम आ मि  कुछ बथ सुणाण चाणु छौं।  वै सुल्तानान ब्वेक कंदूड़ म  ब्वाल, " बल ये ब्वे जैदिन मीन कखड़ी चोरी छे त तू म्यार कंदूड़ पकड़िक पीटी दींदी त आज मीन फांसी नि चढ़न छौ अर तीन निपूतो नि हूण छौ "

   बल ह्वे क्या छौ बल छुट मा एक दिन सुल्ताना न कैकि कखड़ी चोरी अर अपण  माम ल्है  गे।    ब्वै रंडोळन अड़ानो जगा सुल्ताना की बड़ी बड़ैं कार।  अब दुसर दिन बिटेन सुलतानू कबि कैक गुदड़ी चुरावो , कबि मूळा चुरावो अर ब्वे रंडोळ  रूणो जगा पुळेक सुल्ताना क बड़ैं करदी छे।

    हूंद करदो करदो सुल्ताना बड़ो चोर ह्वे गे अर एक दिन वैन बड़ो पधान जीक बखरी चोरी दे  . पधान इ ठैर वू  हौरुुं  तरां चुप नि  राई।  पधान न पटवारी भटे दे. पटवारी सुल्ताना तैं पकड़ नो ग्यायी  सुल्ताना जंगळ  भाजी गे. अर उख भौत बड़ो डाकू बण गे।

  तबि त बुल्दन बल आज खायी कखड़ी भोळ खायी बखरी।  बूबा कबि चोरी नि करण बल।
